Last year, rumors started swirling that Kamie Crawford and Nev Schulman were feuding behind the scenes of MTV’s Catfish. Eagle-eyed fans noticed they unfollowed each other on Instagram, a surefire sign of a problem.
Sure enough, Kamie turned around and announced that she was leaving Catfish after six years, adding even more fuel to the theories about her and Nev. Still, Kamie kept her mouth shut about her departure from the show — until now.
Kamie Crawford hasn’t spoken to Nev Schulman since leaving Catfish
In an interview with Us Weekly, Kamie opened up about her exit from Catfish and claimed she chose to leave. She simply felt ready to move on to something different, so no, she wasn’t fired.
“A lot of people don’t stay at their jobs for six years,” Kamie noted. “People moved around all the time and it was my time.”
She continued, “I had done what I needed to do. I felt very confident about that. And I’m so happy with everything that we’ve done with the show, and I just felt like for me, I did my part. I left my mark and I was ready to do my own thing.”
Kamie may have quit, but she didn’t do herself any favors when talking about her relationship with Nev. She fed into the rumors about them having a falling out by admitting that they “haven’t spoken” since she left the series. According to Kamie, there are no hard feelings about that.
“But that’s OK,” Kamie admitted. “Life goes on, and everyone moves in their own direction, and I wish him nothing but the best. And I wish myself nothing but the best.”
Kamie continued, “People leave jobs all the time, and sometimes their coworkers are in their wedding, and sometimes they never see them again. And that’s OK. It happens.”
Clearly, Kamie hasn’t lost any sleep over her relationship with Nev. She told the outlet that these days, she’s focusing on her podcast and other new projects.
“Since [leaving Catfish], I’ve been really focusing on my own projects and trying to produce shows and different things that really make my heart sing, which has been amazing,” Kamie explained.
Meanwhile, there’s no word on what the future holds for MTV’s Catfish. Season 9 wrapped up last summer, and since then, Nev has been recovering from a serious bicycle accident. Season 10 is in limbo while Kamie moves forward.
