Jennifer Lopez sought healing in different ways amid Ben Affleck divorce
Jennifer Lopez recently sat down with EL PAÍS to talk about how life has been treating her after her divorce from Ben Affleck. She opened up about having a “really tough year” due to some “unexpected things” happening. However, reading and meditating helped her a lot with navigating life after the separation, with the singer admitting that she did “a lot of self-introspection.”
During this time, she also prayed, as she “wanted to improve my relationship with God.” In turn, she hoped to bring her little family closer together to “solidify the family unit.” While seeking spirituality, Lopez also came across individuals who have been through the same. In the interview, she noted that it helped her a lot, and she loved learning about other people’s journeys.
Books played a massive role in her healing journey. The JLo Beauty founder read books on topics like “childhood, marriage, relationships, different styles of love, the brain, science.” Years of different types of therapies have also worked in her favor. The actor dug deep to find out “what are the patterns” and the reason behind them.
She told the outlet, “Over the past year, I really dug deep into what are the patterns that I’ve had and why they happen and what is it about me that’s creating these patterns.” This not only helped her learn more about herself, but also made her more self-aware. Lopez further stated that she believes “self-awareness is a very empowering thing.”
The singer also revealed that her twins, Max and Emme, have been with her throughout the healing journey. The mom of two promised them that she would come out of it “stronger and better.” The best part is that she did just that. Lopez told the outlet that keeping that promise gave her a “great sense of peace in my life,” and she is proud of herself for achieving that.
