A “blind” recoupling ceremony took place on the Tuesday, June 17 episode of Love Island USA. Each of the women stood behind a door, blocking their view of the male contestants. One by one, the men selected who they want to couple up with by approaching that islander’s door. If the decision was mutual, the door would be unlocked and the two would become a couple. The islanders not chosen were left single and vulnerable.
Let’s take a look at the current couples and decipher whose connection is the strongest.

6. Jeremiah Brown and Iris Kendall
Initially, Jeremiah Brown and bombshell Iris Kendall did not choose each other. America paired them together in the matchmaking twist, hoping to derail his and Huda Mustafa’s toxic relationship. Jeremiah was not pleased with America’s decision and wanted to continue his romance with Huda. However, his feelings changed after witnessing Huda’s extreme reaction to America’s choice. The crying and name-calling was too much for Jeremiah. He chose to distance himself from his OG match. At the recoupling ceremony, he stood in front of Iris’ door, stating he wants to break the “toxic cycle” between him and Huda.
I chose to rank them last because I want better for Iris. Jeremiah is using her as a prop to create distance between himself and Huda. She deserves someone who genuinely wants to form a connection with her. I don’t think Jeremiah is that guy. Here’s hoping a new bombshell enters the Villa soon!
5. Pepe Garcia and Hannah Fields
Pepe Garcia and Hannah Fields hit it off right away. The two had a lot in common and the chemistry was palpable. Hannah even admitted she was having second thoughts about her connection with Charlie Georgiou after chatting with Pepe. However, it wasn’t enough to completely turn her head. She seemed set on Charlie before America’s matchmaking twist tore them apart and put her and Pepe together.
I like Hannah and Pepe together, but it’s clear she is still getting over Charlie. They chose each other at the latest recoupling, but Hannah appeared a bit sad. Maybe she wishes Charlie was next to her. We’ll have to wait and see what happens with these two…
4. Austin Shepard and Amaya Espinal
Amaya Espinal is finally with a man that doesn’t hate her. Good for her! Austin Shepard freed himself from the Chelley/Ace love triangle on Tuesday and chose to couple up with Amaya. The two have slowly been developing a connection and are excited to see where it goes. I love Amaya, and I’m happy she’s with someone who is interested in her. Although, her rivalry with Ace did make me laugh. Here’s hoping Austin doesn’t share Ace’s disdain for the word babe.
3. Taylor Williams and Olandria Carthen
In Tuesday’s episode, Olandria Carthen chose her OG match, Taylor Williams, over her new connection, Jalen Brown. Fans were happy to see Olandria and Taylor reconnect, but felt sad for Jalen, who has been nothing but a total sweetie since he stepped into the Villa. I’m hoping Olandria’s brief fling with Jalen woke Taylor up a bit. I love them as a couple, but Taylor needs to step it up if he wants to keep Olandria.
2. Ace Greene and Chelley Bissainthe
After two weeks of “will they, won’t they,” Ace Greene and Chelley Bissainthe are finally a couple. The two have been playing a game of cat and mouse since Episode 1. They chose to ignore their obvious connection and pursue other people, but it’s clear to fans they are meant to be together. It kinda feels like they are playing a chess game and the other islanders are their pawns. I’m glad the games are over and they are finally together. They match each other’s energy, intellect, and sense of humor. I love them together!
1. Nicolas Vansteenberghe and Cierra Ortega
Bombshell Cierra Ortega entered the Villa with her eyes set on Nic Vansteenberghe. The two spent a romantic evening together, and it was clear there was something special between them. There was only one issue. Nic was coupled up with OG islander Belle-A Walker. Nic struggled to decide between Cierra and Belle-A. He admitted Belle-A was more his physical type, but felt more emotionally drawn to Cierra. In the end, he chose Cierra, sending Belle-A home. The decision caused a whole lot of controversy, and many fans felt he made the wrong decision. I have to disagree. I think picking Cierra was the right choice. They are adorable together and their connection seems to keep getting stronger. I’m hopeful they will make it to the finale.
