Aaaahhh… Bethenny Frankel – the train of delusional denial keeps on chuggin', eh!
The former reality star who is in the midst of a "brutal" divorce (well, custody battle at this point!) to Jason Hoppy continues to pretty much deflect all of the marital problems onto her ex.
Bethenny cites Bryn as the only good thing that came out of her marriage and gives Jason no credit for putting up with her reality TV scheming butt. Let's break down the break up of a made-for-television spinoff marriage!
"My marriage made me feel like I was a bad person, like I was damaged, I was dysfunctional, I was never going to be happy," Bethenny recounts to People. "But I don’t believe that to be true. Yet there I was – in a relationship that made me feel that way." Bethenny doesn't believe she's damaged?

Wait – I seem to remember her crying and whining about it on television for years and years (pre-Jason!), showing up in therapy, blaming her parents, calling them wolves and animals. Interesting assessment she's got there!
Bethenny continues, "I have never beaten myself up the way I did during my marriage. I’d say, 'I need to be more like this, I need to be more like that, I’m not normal, I came from a screwed-up background.'” A background she's been dining out on for years! E! True Hollywood story – anyone watch that?
"I felt like there was an expectation to be someone that I wasn’t," Bethenny adds. "All the things that I’ve tried to resolve in therapy and get past from my childhood reared their ugly head in my marriage."
"Maybe that’s the first lesson I learned: to go with my gut, because I waited a long time to see if I even wanted to be in this relationship. I didn’t go with my first instinct," Bethenny claims. EXCUSE ME?! They got pregnant and married within months of knowing each other and then rushed into a reality television show. Who is she kidding?! I'm speechless…
Bethenny says she has no regrets about filing for divorce and cites Jason's refusal to work on their issues as one of the primary reasons she knew it was time to call it quits. I thought it was because he refused to film another season of their show… silly me!
"Two people have to fight for it, not just stick with it," Bethenny laments. "Someone said to me, 'You’re lucky if you get 90 years on this planet – why would you spend so many of them being miserable?‘ That was a defining moment. I had been trying to weigh how much unhappiness was still enough to live with every day."
"You ask yourself: 'If this is as good as it’s going to get, is that good enough?' I knew it wasn’t going to get any better." And sadly divorce is not making things better.
Bethenny confesses the couple is still residing together in the TriBeCa loft they gut renovated. "My living situation is very, very stressful," Bethenny admits. "I don’t think it’s very healthy for anyone involved. It’s very upsetting. You just have to endure it."
As for Jason's decision to continue wearing his wedding ring until they are officially divorced, Bethenny calls it "an interesting choice" that she doesn't "understand."
However there is one aspect of her marriage Bethenny absolutely does not regret – their daughter Bryn. Bethenny and Jason are currently battling over primary custody of their 3-year-old with Bethenny allegedly refusing to compromise.
"Because of Bryn, I can never say, 'I wish this had never happened.' I have a beautiful child who I love so much, who is a part of both of us," Bethenny shares. "In my marriage, I made a mistake. It is what it is. I made the wrong choice. But I do have my daughter, who is so beautiful and amazing in every way."
Bethenny says single motherhood is not as hard as she expected. Of course not – it's called NANNIES! "It seemed like it would be difficult to do things on my own, but it’s not. Everyone knows that Bryn is my first priority, she’s the first thing on my schedule and everything gets booked around her."
"And when I’m with Bryn, it’s just me and her. It is such dedicated, devoted time. It’s so rewarding, and I just feel so fortunate to have that with her," Bethenny muses.
As for concerns that Bryn will grow up a resentful "child of divorce" as Bethenny herself did, the talk show host is not worried about the affects on her daughter. Really? "Growing up at a race track, going to 13 different schools, going from eating off a card table at night to suddenly having a room full of toys – divorce is the least of what caused a problem for me," Bethenny insists. "It was the people who were my parents, and the choices they made."
Finally, Bethenny maintains that she is taking it one day at a time, but is at peace with her decision. "In a split, you go through so many stages. To finally rip the Band-Aid off, to arrive at a place where you’re 100 per cent certain you’ve done the right thing, there’s comfort in that," she explains.
"This [divorce] is not going to make me softer," Bethenny says. "Bryn made me softer, but this is making me tougher; it’s hardening some edges, so I worry about that. And I sometimes think, 'How am I going to be able to trust anyone after this?'"
"When the clouds pass, I will figure out what the silver lining was." Well… can you do it AWAY from television cameras? Is that too much to ask?
My two cents: I truly believe Bethenny conspired with Jason to make their fling into a spinoff to leverage her career. I think they were dating, liked each other, and the opportunity presented itself.
I know lots of people say Jason hit on her with faulty intentions, but who wouldn't go up to some semi-famous girl and give it a go? Bethenny is no weak little innocent, easily taken advantage of – not for one. hot. second. She even admits it here. They used each other to a degree, except he seemed to think they were in it together whereas she quickly let it be known that she called the shots and he could shape up or ship out.
When Jason had expectations that this was a real marriage, Bethenny was over it quicker than one can say "Skinnygirl"!
Oh and Bethenny was bumped from the cover in light of the Cleveland kidnapping victims that were just found.
