Holly Robinson Peete, of old school 21 Jump Street fame (yeah!) and husband & former quarterback Rodney Peete are getting their own docuseries (aka reality show) on OWN. The working titled production, For Peete’s Sake, will “follow the lives of husband and wife duo Holly Robinson Peete and Rodney Peete as they juggle their careers with their family life,” according to blackcelebkids.com.
Why is OWN taking an interest in the Peete family, which includes the couples’ four children – twins RJ and Ryan Elizabeth (17), middle son Robinson (13), and the youngest, Roman (10) – and Holly’s widowed mother, Dolores? Well, according to OWN president Sheri Salata, “As longtime members of ‘The Oprah Show’ family, we’ve watched Holly and Rodney navigate successful careers in show business, a devoted marriage and a growing, love-filled family.” Salata adds, “This new series gives an entertaining and honest look at a modern family that just happens to live in the celebrity spotlight.” Salata also tweeted yesterday, “Team Peete is ready to roll!” after Holly had posted a photo on her Twitter account of her hubby and her hanging with the Lady Who Rules Us All, Oprah Winfrey.

Holly may be most popular for her roles as Judy Hoffs on the Fox TV police drama 21 Jump Street, Vanessa Russell on the ABC sitcom Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper, and Dr. Malena Ellis on the NBC/WB sitcom For Your Love. Besides being a former NFl star, hubby Rodney Peete is also know as the former co-host of Fox Sports’ The Best Damn Sports Show Period. The couple will be adding both of their names to the list of executive producers on their new show, which will highlight their home & family life rather than their careers.
Some fans have tweeted their support, “Now this is a reality show I’d watch. I think @hollyrpeete is the real deal, is inspiring,” while others are expressing their hopes for show content. “@hollyrpeete @OWNTV @Oprah Congrats. Great family!
