Teen Mom star Amber Portwood finally faced the music yesterday in an Indiana courtroom regarding the domestic violence case against her.
Amber, 21, was arrested back in December for hitting her baby daddy Gary Shirley, 24, in front of their daughter Leah and in front of MTV cameras. And yesterday, Amber pled guilty to two counts of felony domestic battery.
Though she had been facing up to three years in jail and a $10,000 fine, the judge decided to go easy on her. Madison Superior Court Judge David Happe suspended Amber’s two-year sentence, and placed her on two years of probation.
Also as part of her plea deal, the judge ordered Amber to undergo 30 days of inpatient therapy, obtain her high school diploma and put $10,000 in a college fund for her 2-year-old daughter. The prosecutors also dropped the most serious of charges against her — the felony child neglect charge.
And finally, the no contact order that prevented Amber and Gary from being around each other in the presence of Leah was also dropped as a result of the plea deal. So it appears Amber and Gary are once again free to be a disaster happy family. Meanwhile, you will be able to see more of Amber’s drama on the upcoming season of Teen Mom, which premieres July 5 on MTV.
