Another week, another totally depressing episode for Shannon Beador. The Real Housewives of Orange County’s resident Debbie Downer shares why this week’s episode was tough for all of us to watch, and how she feels about the gloves coming off between Meghan Edmonds and Vicki Gunvalson at Heather Dubrow’s luncheon.
“This is a very tense episode to watch for many reasons,” starts Shannon. “Let’s begin… I am glad it is made clear that I did not tell Vicki or Brooks [Ayers] about the psychic on the night of Brooks’ birthday dinner. I was so upset the night was ruined, but I was out in a no-win situation. I believe that Vicki would have been upset if I didn’t give her some sort of heads up and we all saw what happened with my choice. I did not ‘spill the beans’ and I am not ‘consistently inconsistent’. In fact, I am quite the opposite and a very consistent and loyal friend. Bottom line, there is no good timing or method in discussing this topic.”

Citing that she’s happy viewers got to see a “tiny glimpse into one of our many lighter family moments as the girls paint pictures,” Shannon moves right along to the birthday dinner from Hell. She confesses, “My birthday dinner is difficult to watch — even more so because my children were present. I walked away from this night realizing the damage that we both cause when we don’t get along in front of the children. When I decided to come back to the show this year, it was important for me to show the true journey that David and I are taking to repair and restore our marriage. With that, come major struggles. You are witnessing one of our biggest steps backward on the night of my birthday.”
Shannon continues, “My 50th birthday was definitely one of my lower points of the last year and David was aware of that. To be seated at a table right next to a loud bar where there were stools and not even chairs, was not close to what I expected. I hate that I look like a spoiled brat, that nothing is good enough. But when David and I celebrated his 50th birthday at the end of last year, he made many heartfelt statements to me about what had happened on my 50th which gave me the impression my 51st was going to be special. I get it. It’s just a birthday. But it was a day that represented a painful memory. I am just grateful that time and hard work on both David’s and my part is healing this pain.”
On a lighter note, Shannon says Heather’s house tour was “so much fun” and “brought back a lot of great and overwhelming memories for me when we built ours!” She explains, “We used the same builder that Heather is using and this house is definitely over the top beautiful!!! By the way, I was kidding about the bathroom comment… ” I love that Shannon is #unwowed by the Dubrow’s obnoxious overspending and overbuilding, since she can go toe to toe with them in the wealth department (in fact, she can probably squash them like itty bitty bedbugs).
As for the argument that broke out during Heather’s luncheon, Shannon comments, “I don’t like it when people argue. I am still feeling horrible about what happened at Brooks‘ birthday dinner. When someone is sick, it is one of the worst things to hear accusations that they may not be ill. It is strange to me that Meghan did research on Brooks’ new proposed medical treatment and I think her comments to Vicki went way below the belt.” Hmm. What about Vicki’s comments? Shannon has firmly planted her feet in Vicki’s camp, for better or for worse. Friendship Divorce is Not at Option!
Finally, Shannon warns us in her blog that, “Emotions are definitely running very high. It continues into next week’s episode…”
