Teen Mom star Amber Portwood, who recently stated she was planning to enter treatment made good on her word, as sources confirm she has recently checked into rehab for unspecified reasons.
According to E! News, Amber, who attempted suicide just two weeks ago, has entered a fancy-smancy rehab facility in where else – Malibu.
In fact, helping to confirm the reports of Amber’s rehab entry were facebook posts from Amber’s own fame-seeking brother, Shawn Portwood: “Best wishes to my sister while in rehab. For everyone who might not know, it is not for drugs btw,” as Shawn makes sure to point out his sister’s rehab stay is not for illegal substances. Amber recently came forward admitting she suffers from bi-polar disorder which may help to explain some of her actions.
According to a friend of Amber who followed up on brother Shawn’s FB post, things are going well for her since going to treatment and she is headed in a positive direction: “I talked to her last night and she sounds amazing and positive! She has a great support system that stands beside her and are supporting her in this life changing journey.” Amber will reportedly remain in rehab for 30 – 60 days.
The article does not give information on who is providing for Amber’s two-year old daughter, Leah while she is in treatment, but it has been reported that Gary Shirley now has custody of her.
In other Teen Mom Rehab stories, Jenelle Evans has finished her stint in a Malibu rehab facility following reports of out-control partying and fighting, plus multiple arrests. In a RadarOnline interview, Jenelle’s attorney, Dustin R.T. Sullivan reveals what’s next for his client: “She’s back home in North Carolina and started class at Cape Fear Community College on Wednesday. She’s taking American History and a math course. She wants to finish the two year program with an Associate’s Degree and then get her Bachelor’s Degree from UNCW (University of North Carolina Wilmington).”
As for her terror-relationship with on-off boyfriend, Kieffer Delp, they are NOT together (good!) but according to Jenelle’s lawyer: “They may still communicate, but as far as I know they aren’t together.”
Adding that she apparently learned the concept of “planning for the future,” Jenelle is applying for jobs, other than reality TV star, so she can provide extra income for her son with whom she has been recently reunited. Jenelle herself explained her goals in an interview, stating: “In 10 years I see myself living in a decent house with a decent car and with Jace and married to a man that deserves me and my family. I also see myself with a career as a film editor.”
Best of luck to Amber, Janelle, and their kiddies – they’ll need it! Hopefully this is the fresh start they both need, because it would be nice for MTV to chronicle Teen Mom success stories for a change!
Do you think Amber will straighten out? Do you think Janelle is a changed woman after rehab? Will you be watching the upcoming season of Teen Mom?
