Following his possible drug overdose resulting in a coma, Lamar Odom has been discharged from a Las Vegas hospital. While that’s undoubtedly a positive he could suffer lingering medical issues and may even be in need of a kidney transplant!
Yesterday Lamar was transported from Vegas to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in LA with Khloe Kardashian by his side (who is his doctor?!) to receive “specialized care.”
Reportedly the former NBA superstar will undergo 6 hours of daily dialysis in the hopes of rehabilitating in his failing kidneys. With the dialysis Lamar is “showing signs of improvement,” but he still ultimately may need a kidney transplant in the future. “His kidneys are shot,” explains an insider to TMZ.

So far the kidney issues seem to be one of Lamar’s biggest hurdles.
Unfortunately the 35-year-old may also have some cognitive impairments related to the several strokes he is thought to have suffered. Still, doctors are impressed with Lamar’s recovery!
He is able to move his arms and legs and is breathing without an oxygen mask. Lamar is also “making fast progress” in responsiveness and passed a “swallowing test” – said to be a positive prognosis. Additionally, a CT scan came back clear and he is communicating according to E! News.
Khloe “goes everywhere with him. If Lamar leaves the room for testing, she follows,” reveals an insider. Lamar’s former college basketball coach, Jim Harrick, reported to CNN that Lamar has been cognizant enough to tell Khloe, who he is still legally married to, “I love you.”
Coach Harrick believes this serious incident will be a much-needed “turning point” for Lamar.
Lamar’s family also remains faithful he will recover. “Lamar has always been blessed with a tenacious, fighting spirit, overcoming insurmountable obstacles to achieve the impossible. These past few days have been no different,” his aunt JaNean Mercer said in a statement released yesterday.
Lamar certainly has our positive thoughts and prayers!
