Chris Harrison, host of The Bachelorette revealed some interesting information regarding the cheating allegations made against Bachelorette winner, Ed Swiderski. Chris confirmed what we all suspected, that both of Ed’s exes – Lindsey Johnson and Bethany Steffen, were paid by US Magazine for revealing information about their affair with Ed.
“The problem is the two girls cashed in and took a paycheck for the story in Us, so, they kind of sold out, which is unfortunate. They sold out at the expense of Ed and Jillian,” Harrison revealed to ET. Lindsey revealed in an interview with US Weekly that she slept with Ed just 8 days after his proposal to Jillian Harris. Both exes also admit to sleeping with Ed during the taping of the show.
Even though Ed is not admitting to the affair, Harrison said “there is a shred of truth in there, which Jillian already knew about.” He continued, “But if there is a shred of truth, you can’t fight the bull!@#$, so what are you going to do? There is not much she can do.”
Jillian admitted to tearing up by the rumors. “I would never do anything mean-spirited in my life,” she said. “I’ll never say a mean thing about one of those girls even though I’m very confused why they would do something like this.”
With all the controversy and drama, both Jillian and Ed still remain a couple. “It is tough, but they are still together, they are still engaged” says Chris.
The fact that these women were paid for their stories does not negate the fact that they might be telling the truth. The time-lines and proof they provided were very damaging. Plus to my knowledge, USWeekly was going to do the story with or without their input, so it was probably in their best interest to get their “truth” out there.
