On the latest 90 Day Fiance episode, the scenes between Ashley Martson and Jay Smith were strained. She seemed to be suspicious of Jay actions and copped to her trust issues. Ashley also expressed her concerns about the couple’s lack of communication.
Not only that, but fans of the show also commented about Ashley’s appearance. She looked slightly swollen in the face and neck, as if she had been crying. Ashley took to her Instagram after the show aired to clear up any misconceptions. She revealed that she suffers from Lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease.
Ashley revealed her medical diagnosis in an Instagram post. The picture shows Ashley in the hospital with a nasty rash on the side of her neck and on her chest. She looks like she is in a lot of pain. Along with the photo, she wrote, “A lot of people are asking why I look so sad and like I was crying for days in last nights episode. This photo was taken hours before that filming.”
Ashley revealed, “I had a reaction to a medication for lupus and my eyes and neck were completely broke out. They gave me steroids to help it but it wasn’t completely gone. I was battling this the entire rest of the season so I wanted to address it.”

In addition to the text that Ashley wrote across the photo, Ashley also wrote a caption. The 90 Day Fiance star admitted, “Was going through hell the entire rest of the season dealing with this. Just wanted to address this since I received many messages about this.”
The effects of Lupus can be exaggerated by stress. Maybe the challenges of Ashley’s relationship started to affect her health. Watching her dialogues with Jay, it’s clear Ashley has concerns about his behavior.
Hopefully Ashley and Jay are able to work through their issues as the season progresses. To his credit, Jay did try to make amends after their fight by cooking Ashley some dinner. Their social media activity seem to indicate they are still a couple. Recently, they were in New York together to film the reunion special.
