Heidi Montag may have faded into obscurity for a while. But last week she made big news even more tremendous by answering a question about diversity in the most tone-deaf and detached manner possible.
Here’s what set fans off. Heidi gave an interview to Vogue about the reboot of The Hills: New Beginnings. Heidi was asked if she, “wished there was a little more diversity represented.” Without missing a beat she answered, “We don’t all look the same.” Diversity is clearly relative and this quote only gets better.
Heidi continued her explanation by saying, “I mean Audrina [Patridge] has darker hair. I feel like Mischa [Barton] has darker hair.”
The original series featured even less “diversity.” Audrina was the only brunette and at times was pitted against the countless blondes. Audrina made waves when she moved out of Lauren Conrad’s house into the pool house. Same property but totally different atmosphere.

Heidi continued, “but yeah, we’re California girls and it’s a group of friends. And that just happens to be the group that came together. But you know, that’s just the way the show was. I have other, very diverse friends that are not featured on the show.”
Social media erupted with reactions. One commenter wrote, “Heidi Montag answering a question about diversity on The Hills might as well have been Ron Burgundy thinking diversity is an old wooden ship…” Another said, “if you expected a reasonable well thought out answer from Heidi Montag then you are the dumbass.” Page Six shared more hilarious responses.
Fans can expect The Hills: New Beginnings in the summer of this year. Fan favorite and OG star Lauren will not be returning. Audrina is signed on as well as Heidi’s husband, Spencer Pratt. Mischa Barton is a new face that will be featured on the reboot. This is presumably because of her starring role on The OC.
