Southern Charm’s matriarch, Patricia Altschul, has just found herself right in the middle of a situation she did not want to be in. Thomas Ravenel and ex Kathryn Dennis’ custody battle.
I’m sure Patricia would rather be in her parlor sipping cocktails while watching with barely concealed amusement the antics of the other members of Southern Charm.
Thomas and Kathryn have been gearing up for their pending custody case. Kathryn filed for full custody of the couple’s two children after Thomas had been accused of sexual assault. He was later arrested on assault and battery charges and is currently awaiting trial.
According to an article from Page Six, Patricia was ordered by the court to answer questions under oath. The questioning will “last no longer than six hours” on a date to be agreed upon by both parties. Patricia had originally tried to fight the request to be deposed. She argued she was only “involved” because she was a character on the show. She made it clear she did not want to be involved with either side’s case. And felt that trying to force her to testify was a form of “harassment.”

Thomas’ argument is that Patricia has information that will show Kathryn plotted with another woman to accuse him of assault. Patricia is ordered to turn over all texts and e-mails between her, Kathryn, and Thomas’former girlfriend from April 2018 to the present.
Kathryn and Patricia have come a long way since the show first aired. They currently have a close relationship and Kathryn has even had the occasional dalliance with Patricia’s son Whitney Sudler-Smith. Yet, I don’t blame Patricia for wanting to stay as far away from the custody case as she can. After the deposition, she might need more than a McDonald’s hamburger and wine to relax.
