Jax Taylor Says Vanderpump Rules Was Getting “Too Scripted” And He “Just Couldn’t Do It Anymore”

There have been a ton of changes for the cast of Vanderpump Rules since Season 8 wrapped. In June of 2020, “OG” stars Kristen Doute and Stassi Schroeder were fired for their alleged racist behavior.

Pump Rules viewers also wanted Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright held accountable for their past racially inappropriate behavior. In 2018, Jax implied that his co-star, Faith Stowers, was “AWOL” from the military and stole a car. Faith alleged that Brittany made racist comments about her appearance.

Thanks to a pregnancy pact, many of the Pumps Rules squad became mothers. Stassi welcomed a daughter, Hartford Charlie Rose Clark, on January 7, 2021. On March 15, 2021 Lala Kent gave birth to her daughter, Ocean Kent Emmett. Scheana Shay announced the arrival of her daughter on Instagram. Summer Moon Honey Davies arrived on April 26, 2021. Jax and his wife, Brittany, shared the arrival of their son, Cruz Michael Cauchi, on April 12, 2021.

In December 2020, Jax and Brittany announced that they were exiting the show. In nearly identical Instagram posts, the couple explained their reasons. Jax’s post has since been removed. “Although this is difficult to share, Jax and I will not be returning for another season of Vanderpump Rules,” Brittany posted. “We are excited to take this time to focus on our growing family and share with you our new endeavors.”

No one believed that the duo walked away from a Bravo paycheck. Lisa Vanderpump was asked if she was “surprised” by Brittany and Jax’s decision. Lisa responded, “Was I surprised what they decided? Well, if you put it like that, yeah. I would have been really surprised.” Oh, the shade!

Jax admitted that he was fired from the show while addressing his little “tax situation.” And by situation, I mean that he owes $1.2 million dollars in back taxes. Jax stated, “I’m going to miss the paycheck. That’s the only thing I’m going to miss. The show made a good decision,” he added.

Now that Vanderpump Rules is set to begin production on Season 9 in May, are Jax and Brittany missing their old gig? Not so much.

Jax told US Weekly, “I was 100 percent checked out at the end… I was just very irritable on the show. It was getting a little bit too scripted for me and I just couldn’t do it anymore,” the new father remarked. “It wasn’t fun.”

Most of Season 8 centered around Brittany and Jax’s Kentucky wedding and numerous bachelor and bachelorette parties. That season dragged on.  It seems that parenthood was also a factor. “There’s no way we could have done this with a kid,” Jax remarked. Brittany said, “We put a lot of our heart and soul into that show and we’re very open and very real. Having a kid changes your perspective on how much you want to put out there,” the new mom added. “People are mean and they mom-shame and everything else. I would be scared for that part.”

But don’t worry-the couple isn’t closing the door on a reality TV come back. “I want to it be more comedy, family-oriented,” Jax shared. “I’m really done with the drama and the arguing with people half my age.” He commented, “We’re excited for our future. It’s nice to sit back … and take our time deciding how we want to do it and what we want to do.”
