It was mere days ago that the season 23 cast for Big Brother was announced. Clear your calendars for Wednesday July 7th, if you haven’t already! The countdown to Day 1 is on.
Since the announcement fans have gone wild, clamoring for any info available on the game play and player dynamics. This season will feature 16 houseguests with a range of backgrounds and expertise. We’ve got a farmer, a phlebotomist, and a teacher in the house. It’s sounding like players will also compete as teams. Are your brackets ready?
If you’re someone who enters a BB league, you may want to wait before you hit submit on your entry. Christie Valdiserri will no longer be a houseguest on season 23. Yep. They’re dropping already. In a video recording caught by Us Weekly Christie revealed, “I don’t want to be sharing this news, but I tested positive for COVID and I have no idea how I got it. I have the vaccine and have been following like all the guidelines up to this point.” Ouch.
Christie was already known by Big Brother fans for being a Sports Illustrated model with alopecia. She described herself in her player bio as being “determined, energetic, and passionate.” She had also planned to use her hair loss secret as an advantage. I, for one, am upset to miss out on that reveal.
The BB wanna-be told viewers, “I have the vaccine and I’ve been following all the guidelines up until this point. I have absolutely no symptoms. I feel perfectly fine. So I’m really grateful for that.” She also shared, “It’s really frustrating because I won’t be playing in Big Brother this summer.”
Maybe there’s hope for Christie to return for season 24. She revealed that despite this being a “roller coaster of emotion” she’s “just telling [herself] that it’s for a bigger reason.” Christie also said, “I don’t know the reason yet.”

“I have put myself out there, and shared this vulnerability of being bald, and all the comments, good or bad, are affecting everybody else that also is bald…so spread love,” Christie announced to her followers.
The uninvited houseguest still used her platform to spread the word. She shared, “Whether you’re just finding out about alopecia or you know what alopecia is, you know that we’re unstoppable. I’m going to bounce back in one way or another.” You go girl!
In the meantime, it looks like Christie has been replaced by Claire Rehfuss, who writes code as an AI engineer. Get your popcorn and slop ready! Summer has officially begun.
