A lot of drama went down at the infamous baby shower for Andy Cohen’s son Benjamin in January 2019. The star-studded event was attended by a gaggle of Real Housewives, including Teresa Giudice, Kyle Richards, Vicki Gunvalson, and Ramona Singer. Lisa Vanderpump got a lot of backlash for skipping the event, but that was just the tip of the iceberg. Gossip and rumors swirled about Erika Jayne’s financial status and things came to light as the lawsuits against Tom Girardi started to materialize. Who wasn’t talking about Erika at that point?
Much drama was created at the “A Star Is Born ” themed event, though Andy himself slipped by unscathed. The man is untouchable somehow…. Andy could have been implicated in the sloppy mess of Erika’s financial scandal, but a fortunate mishap spared him. Isn’t this the kind of concern Sutton Stracke had all along? At least she is validated now.
According to an article by Us Weekly, Erika forgot to send a gift for the baby shower. Had she sent a gift, it may have been included in the $25 million lawsuit investigation against the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star.
Andy explained the situation while attending an event at Temple Emanu-El Streicker Center in New York City. “Erika gave me a card that said she had given me I believe it was $2,000- no, I think it was $1,000 shares of Disney stock, which is really expensive,” the Bravo executive said, “I called her and I said, ‘Are you kidding me?’ and she said, ‘That’s what we give to all the kids in our life.'”
The fact that the stock transfer never happened was a saving grace for Andy, who explained at a prior event that he did not receive the gift. Thereby, there was nothing to “implicate” him with the investigation against Erika.

Nobody wants to be on Erika’s s–t list, so Andy called her to discuss the optics of the news. He explained, “so, I called Erika and was like, ‘Look, I got to be straight with you. This now is going to run in the paper and it’s going to look like I’m throwing you under the bus.”
Andy recalled the conversation between himself and Erika. He continued, “she said, ‘Andy, I know we didn’t [send it] and this has been on my mind.’ She said, ‘I remember everything. I don’t forget anything. And I remember that we didn’t give you a the gift,’ and she said, ‘Thank God we didn’t.’ And I said, ‘Thank God you didn’t! Like, I’m so glad you didn’t.'”
Thankfully, with that drama behind him, Andy can remember his son’s baby shower for all the important reasons, such as celebrating Benjamin’s life and the achievement of being a father as a gay man. It’s a milestone Andy spoke about, as far back as December 2018, when all the potential and excitement was on the horizon.
“When I was growing up, and when we were growing up…I just never thought it would be possible as a gay an to grow up and have a family,” Andy said during a prior CNN’s New Year’s Eve program, “and here we are in 2018, almost ’19 and anything’s possible. And I’m so grateful to a wonderful surrogate that I’m working with.”
