Here’s What The Real Housewives Of New York City Casting Team Is Looking For In Season 14

Calling all New Yorkers! Are you an outgoing, honest, aspirational, and sophisticated lady with a diverse group of friends? If so, Bravo wants you to be part of the next generation of The Real Housewives of New York City! Seriously, the casting search is officially on for season 14 of RHONY, and they are taking applications. But, holding an apple isn’t as easy as simply being a wealthy lady living in New York City. The production company behind the show has shared exactly what they’re looking for in their new batch of Housewives, and they seem as determined as ever to ensure that this new era of RHONY isn’t a flop.

RHONY has been on a roller coaster ride for the last couple of years. If we’re being honest, things haven’t been the same since Bethenny Frankel left that second time. And ever since season 13 ended on a sour note, we’ve endured endless fan theories and DeuxMoi rumors about who’s getting fired, who’s coming back, and who’s getting demoted to a “friend of” role. But now, we know that none of that was accurate, and they’re starting RHONY over with a clean slate.

On Instagram, the account @rhonycasting, which is operated by the production company behind RHONY, put out an official casting call outlining what they want to see in the new group of ladies.

First and foremost, they’re looking for an “organic, diverse group of friends,” which mirrors what Andy Cohen said when he first announced the next phase of RHONY. They even put this phrase in bold on the casting announcement, so you know this is extra important for the producers. They also want these women to be “sophisticated” and live “aspirational lifestyles.” These points about what they want the group to look like are all so refreshing to hear because, after over 15 years of Housewives, we know that the formula works best when the women are filthy rich and actually know each other in real life.

Some of the things that RHONY’s casting team is looking for highlight just how much the definition of a “Real Housewife” has evolved over the years. For example, they’re not exclusively looking for married women. Instead, the casting flier mentions they’re open to women who are married, dating, or single. Of course, the old RHONY eventually evolved into a show focused on single women, but it didn’t start that way. Now, it seems like marital status is not as important. What’s important is that the women are open, honest, and unique. The casting call also mentions that it’s looking for women with successful careers or businesses, which means being a full-time socialite may no longer be enough to make the cut.

Although a lot is about to change in the world of RHONY, the casting flier clarifies that some things about the show will still feel familiar. For example, they’re specifically looking for women who live in the greater Manhattan area. So, for those of you who were hoping to see Brooklyn, Staten Island, or any other parts of New York City on the show, it seems like you’ll have to keep waiting.

Applicants are also asked to divulge if they’ve ever appeared on reality TV in the past, and they have to prove that their lifestyle is “aspirational” by sending in photos of their homes or links to real estate photos. It sounds like they want to make sure that none of the new RHONY cast members live in hotel rooms.

Alas, for the first time in what feels like years, Bravo has somewhat of an idea of what’s in store for the future of RHONY. The casting team certainly has their work cut out for them, and the future Real Housewives of New York City have some enormous shoes to fill when the time comes to start filming.

TELL US – DO YOU KNOW ANYONE WHO WOULD BE A GOOD FIT FOR RHONY? ARE YOU EXCITED TO SEE A NEW CAST? DO YOU THINK THESE CASTING CRITERIA WILL PRODUCE A GOOD GROUP OF HOUSEWIVES?
