Unpopular opinon: I love Katie Rost. The former Real Housewives of Potomac star brought her own special kind of panache to the show. She wasn’t scared of anyone (hello, Gizelle Bryant!) and I found her life legitimately interesting. Unfortunately for us, she made her exit on season 4. After a particularly wild cast trip to Grand Cayman, Katie took off in the middle of the night.
The RHOP women, including production, were confused and taken aback. But Katie later said that members of the cast and production was aware of her leaving. She maintained, “I left Grand Cayman after notifying production and the front desk that I was sick. I got home and found out I was pregnant. I told Robyn [Dixon], Gizelle and all of production.” She recalled, “The saddest part for me is that horrible feeling knowing you were integral in creating something and those people treat you like shit. My mom talked to Andy Cohen the other day, he knows a bit of what’s going on. But I think production has lied about their misbehavior. I keep it real.”
But Katie has had some time to reflect and desperately wants her job back. She recently posted a plea to her Instagram featuring a photo of Andy on one side and her on the other. She captioned it, “Andy, Rost wants attention. She is a terrible child! She is super fucking annoying. But she wants daddy to give her a job. ( if it doesn’t work out the welfare office will step …. But they need evidence she tried…. It’s a rule .. and stuff.” Hmmm. Not quite sure what to make of that. Current cast member Mia Thornton commented, “Girl. Don’t give them any attention. Live your life doll.”
This isn’t the first Katie has made a play to get her job back. Or the second. Katie previously posted a similar message on Instagram. It read, “I would like to issue a public apology, for statements I made that weren’t cool in the past to Andy Cohen. And I do want a job. And I swear I will totally behave. I’m also sorry for my temper tantrums. I feel no thirst. I just want to work.” When Andy announced the birth of his daughter, Katie was also begging in his Instagram comments. She wrote, “Congrats @bravoandy on Lucy [Cohen] (still need a job bro, I will keep asking) Katie never gives up baby.” Awkward!
At least I’m not alone in wanting Katie back. The Grande Dame herself, Karen Huger, recently said she would like to see Katie back on the franchise. Karen shared, “I miss Katie and her wigs!” She continued to gush, “Her timing and what she will do [on the show] is so authentic to Katie. None of us can duplicate it. None of us can bring what Katie can bring to this group. And it is missed. That’s why she pops up all the time. Because when she comes, it’s like magic.”
