Nick Viall is no stranger to criticism. He may host one of the most popular podcasts about The Bachelor and other topics, but some have accused him of regressive views, to put it lightly. But if there’s one person Nick knows people will dislike more than him, it’s Tom Sandoval.
The Vanderpump Rules star has been the punching bag of nearly every reality TV commentator since Scandoval broke all those months ago. With all the vitriol against Tom, it must’ve been cathartic for everyone to see him take multiple beatings on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.
One of those beatings came directly from Nick. But despite the repeated blows to Tom, Nick was declared the fight’s loser. He addressed the scuffle and its aftermath on the October 17 episode of his podcast, The Viall Files.
Nick called Tom’s win “bullsh*t”
Nick said, “When the fight ended, in my head I’m like, ‘Holy sh*t, I won this thing.’ I didn’t think he punched me at all.” Unfortunately for Nick, the Special Forces host, Billy Billingham, thought otherwise. When Billy declared Tom the winner of the fight, Nick admitted his initial reaction was “What the f*ck?”
“When we got done fighting … Billy’s like, ‘If you’re surprised about the outcome,’ … He’s like, ‘This is all about getting back up.’ Or some bullsh*t like that.” Nick said he wouldn’t have tried so hard if he’d known that was the goal. What’s worse is that he was apprehensive before the fight started. He explained he’d never been in a fight before.
The crew filmed “three different rounds” of fights, allowing Tom to get up between takes. Nick attributed Tom’s fighting style to his high school wrestling days, noting that Tom tried to pick him up repeatedly. He added that the rules of the fight were simply to throw “as many punches at each other’s heads as possible.”
