2023 has been a tough year for Kim Richards. During a recent chat with Access Hollywood, the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star opened up about being forced out of her home due to a devastating flood. That’s bad enough as it is. But then, to make matters worse, she couldn’t turn to her sisters for support. She said that Kathy Hilton and Kyle Richards’ RHOBH drama coupled with Kyle’s marital crisis made it difficult to find support within her family. Luckily, Kim had a super famous, heiress niece she could count on.
A flood and family feuds
When chatting with the outlet, Kim explained how a flood unexpectedly uprooted her life. She said, “I had to move out, I had to go somewhere, and I didn’t know where to go, and it was a lot.”
The challenging time for Kim was made worse by the fact that her sisters were feuding on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. We all watched as Kim and Kathy let their relationship implode on reality TV. Kim said that their drama had a trickle-down effect on her.
“It was a really hard year for me just because they were fighting,” Kim explained. “We all have our things you know, like I just it was a lot.”
Kim said that she “really needed” her sisters but had to figure out her next steps on her own. Ultimately, she said it was her niece Paris Hilton along with her husband, Carter Reum, who came through and helped Kim when she needed it.
“My whole family is great, but everybody was going through so much,” Kim explained. “It was hard. I lost my clothes, my car, everything came down into my car. It was like one of those things. But I also feel like God gave me a chance to do this all over again. I get a new home, I get a new car. But it’s hard when you lose everything when it’s taken, like, in a flood like that. It’s awful.”
We’re glad to know that Kim is back on her feet after the flood and kudos to Paris for supporting her aunt. Let’s just hope 2024 treats Kim a little bit better.
