Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist‘s wedding is only a week away, but are they having cold feet? While nothing is officially confirmed, there have been rumors that The Golden Bachelor couple is considering a prenup. According to the rumors, Theresa is pushing for a prenup before the wedding, and Gerry is offended by the suggestion.
Regardless of whether the rumors have any merit, a prenup would not be a bad idea for Gerry and Theresa. At their older age, it is crucial that both Gerry and Theresa are financially secure and comfortable. If Theresa really does want a prenup, then she should get one!
Gerry’s Reputation Has Taken A Beating Since The Golden Bachelor
At the beginning of The Golden Bachelor, Gerry was America’s sweetheart. However, since the show has concluded, some more negative opinions of Gerry have come to light. Several allegations surfaced that Gerry had in fact lied about his dating life after the passing of his wife Toni. Gerry reportedly dated another woman for a whopping three years before ending the relationship and citing her changing appearance as one of the reasons.
In addition to not being one hundred percent truthful about his dating life, Gerry also told some half truths regarding his career. Another key aspect of Gerry’s story, was the claim that he was a retired restaurant owner. However, reports showed that Gerry had in fact not worked in the restaurant industry for almost forty years!
These allegations certainly raised suspicion about Gerry, and viewers began to wonder whether he had just put on a good act. While Gerry did appear to really love Theresa, it is a huge red flag that he would lie about such critical aspects of his life on the show. This does not necessarily mean that he would deceive his new fiancé in any way. However, Theresa Nist should get a prenup nonetheless.
Theresa Worked Incredibly Hard To Get To Where She Is
While no one deserves to be scammed out of money, the elderly, who have worked hard for their fortunes, are particularly vulnerable. During the show, Theresa explained her career history to Gerry, and it was nothing short of impressive!
Theresa began her marriage as a homemaker, while her husband Billy worked to support their family. While at home, Theresa developed a passion for the stock market and began working as a day trader. When finances got tight, Theresa applied for a job in the industry to further improve her skills. Despite being up against 30 college graduates, Theresa got the job! She has continued working in the industry ever since, and continues to do so today.
Theresa’s story is incredibly inspirational, and she has worked very hard to get to where she is. Again, while there are no concrete indications that Gerry has wishy-washy intentions, it wouldn’t hurt Theresa to protect her assets with a prenup.
Gerry Was Unsure About Theresa At A Point
While Gerry and Theresa currently seem to be madly in love, we can’t forget that he was unsure about her until the very end. For the longest time, it seemed like Gerry instead planned on choosing runner up Leslie Fhima. During one of his final dates with Theresa, Gerry even admitted that he found himself thinking of Leslie instead. After learning more about Theresa’s career, however, Gerry suddenly seemed to be all in on her.
Of course, given the nature of the show it is understandable that Gerry had some conflicting feelings between the final two women. But it is still very early on in Gerry and Theresa’s relationship, and too early to say whether they will stay together. Since they are getting married rather quickly, a prenup could be an excellent way to ensure their assets are protected if something were to go wrong.
It is crucial to note that the rumors of Theresa considering a prenup are simply just rumors. In fact, it is very possible that she could not have a prenup on her mind at all. Nonetheless, given the unique circumstances of Theresa and Gerry’s relationship, it seems like a prenup could be a good idea.
