For the last few seasons of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Crystal Kung Minkoff has been the resident wallflower whom the other 90210 women often overshadowed. The mother of two kept a lot of her opinions close to her chest and rarely spoke up for herself. But Season 13 presented a whole new Crystal, and dare I say I loved her? She started to share her voice even when it might not have wanted to be heard, and it really solidified a place for her on the show. The reunion shows her eating up Annemarie Wiley and Dorit Kemsley, so it doesn’t surprise me that she is also a boss bitch in her day-to-day life.
How Does Crystal Make Money?
During the first part of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion, Crystal schooled Dorit after the Beverly Beach founder called her a “child bride.” Dorit put her foot in it once more as she presumed Crystal had done nothing but marry a rich man, but it turns out the first Asian-American housewife has been hustling by pushing a pretty hydrating drink. Crystal made it known to the woman that she is a college graduate and has since gone on to build a successful business, noting, “I’ve built a company.” Turns out Crystal is a very rich bi*ch, as she revealed, “I got married at 24, I had already gone to college, and I’ve built a company worth over $100 million right now.”
Needless to say, that shut Dorit up. Crystal expanded on her successful business while speaking to BravoTV, sharing, “This year, my company, Real Coco, we expanded into Smart & Final nationwide. Hopefully, by the end of 2024 to 2025, we’ll be in all big box stores.”
It’s a Family Business
Crystal and her brother, Asian pop star Jeff Kung, founded the water company over 12 years ago. During an earlier BravoTV interview, Crystal gushed about the chance to work with her beloved brother, telling readers, “It’s funny. It’s like, even though that all happened, it’s still sort of out of sight, out of mind, because he lives in China and we’re here. That’s his life, and when this opportunity came up for Real Coco, we started our coconut water company in Asia ’cause we source everything from Southeast Asia; it just made sense.”
Viewers of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills have noted how close the brother and sister are, especially after Crystal broke down after learning Jeff was going to move back to Asia. Crystal lamented, “My brother and I and my best friend, the three of us, we’re so close, and so it was such a fun thing to do that keeps us constantly connected.” Crystal and Jeff keep a close eye on their company and use an organic, farm-to-bottle concept for their water and all of their coconut products.
The Products
According to the Real Coco website, the company believes a “plant-based life is a happy life.” Crystal and her business partners want to bring the power of plant-based fuel to consumers because it can help improve your health and combat climate change. As we saw on the most recent season of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Crystal takes her health seriously, especially after her high blood pressure incident in Spain. So, investing in a health food company makes sense for her narrative.
The plant-based products are USDA Organic, Non-GMO, vegan, gluten-free, paleo & keto-friendly, and kosher. What is also pretty cool is the coconuts used have all been grown on the same farms for generations. Crystal is definitely keeping it all in the family! Crystal isn’t living with a dry bank account between the milk and water. Who knew the coconut water niche would be so rich with profit? Along with Real Coco, Crystal also racks in the money thanks to her Bravo paycheck, brand endorsements, and other investments.
I can only assume now that she has mentioned Real Coco on the Bravo platform, fans will be running out to try it just like they do with other Bravolebrities bars or clothing lines. Good luck, Crystal, and way to give Dorit hell!
