It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro finally reunited on Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. It was the first time the toxic exes had been in the same room in nearly a decade. It turned out to be more awkward than anyone could have imagined.
Sammi and Ronnie finally reunited
Sammi and Ronnie’s rollercoaster of a relationship officially came to a halt in 2014. He continued with a career on TV while she opted for a private life. When Sam finally decided to come back to Jersey Shore, everyone knew a reunion would be imminent. It finally happened when the Jersey Shore gang took a trip to Nashville in the latest episode of Season 7. Leading up to the big reunion, both Sam and Ron had mixed emotions.
“I’m just, like, a ball of emotions. I’m not looking forward to spending time with this person that hasn’t been a part of my life,” Sammi said before the reunion. “I just want to kind of, like, figure it out so everyone can have fun, coexist and get along together.”
Ronnie had a similar perspective. He said he was nervous, but felt hopeful they had both “matured” since their last conversation. Not to mention, Sammi has fully moved on with her now-fiancé Justin May.
Of course, once Sammi and Ronnie finally reunited, it was just as awkward as anyone could have imagined. Vinny Guadagnino described it as “the most monumental awkward moment of Jersey Shore history.” Then, he made it even more awkward by bringing up the infamous note of the original run of Jersey Shore. You know the note—the one that exposed Ron for putting his head in between a cocktail waitress’s breasts.
Watching it from home, Vinny’s joke landed. For the cast sitting there with Ronnie and Sammi, it clearly sucked the air out of the room. There was already enough awkwardness, so why make it worse? Sammi felt annoyed, and the episode ended with her sharing some tough words in a confessional interview.
“I have been cool, calm, and collected about the whole Ron situation, but this is something that I don’t take lightly, and now I feel like I’m going to explode,” Sammi warned.
