Was Summer House’s Danielle Olivera Wrong for Calling Out Paige DeSorbo, or Being a Good Friend?

It is starting to look like Danielle Olivera hasn’t learned her lesson from the last time she was in the Summer House. Fans will recall that the app designer stuck her nose into Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke’s engagement. Her busy body ways cost her a friendship with Lindsay for a while. But Danielle persists, and so does the drama-filled nightmare of putting her two cents in where it doesn’t belong.

The call-out

I mean, come on, Danielle! What girl who is in a long-distance, reality TV relationship wants to hear from her friend that she isn’t treating the guy right? Like, be a team player and support Paige DeSorbo. The fashionista has made it perfectly clear she is moving at her own pace, and quite frankly, Craig Conover seems pretty okay taking a back seat to his future wife. While out at a club, Paige lamented, “I love him. He’s my friend. I think of him, like, ‘That’s my best friend.’”

Danielle was clearly over Paige’s backward fairytale and called her out. In what can only be described as a rage reply, Danielle tells Paige, “That’s because you have his balls on a f*cking mantel. I’m going to keep it real with you; I think you’re giving him nothing. Do you actually think this is a forever guy? Or are you just this badass bitch doing your own thing, and he’s really good for right now?”

Danielle could have phrased her thoughts better

My girl Danielle just went a bit too far, in my opinion. First, why would you ever think the place to hold a serious conversation like this topic was best made for the club where everyone is intoxicated except Carl? I just can’t wrap my head around it, and all I can think is, “But why?” What’s the dynamic of Paige and Dani in the city? Are they even friends there? I just don’t understand the point of the comment. It felt very much like Danielle was trying to thrust her beliefs about marriage on Paige, and that just wasn’t fair.

If Danielle truly cared about the status of Paige’s relationship, she could have taken her out to a nice brunch and talked civilly. Instead, she put the fashionista on the spot and expected a hearty thank you after offending her. But Paige knew what she was dealing with, telling cameras while in her confessional, “Danielle stands on a very moral high ground. That she can tell everyone when they’re making the wrong decision or acting poorly. But when you turn the mirror over where did she go? She runs right away.”

Paige defends herself

Now, I think it is healthy for friends to have open conversations. But I don’t think it is okay to be constantly defending your choices to people who should be supporting you. It was obvious that Paige was not feeling the conversation and imagined herself anywhere else. I mean, summer should be fun, right? Danielle, not fun. While on the Summer House After Show, Danielle doubles down, saying, “It just seems like she shoots him down if he wants to be part of something.” My god, woman, have we not learned to keep some of our thoughts to ourselves?

Paige’s retort clarified that she is not close enough to Danielle to feel comfortable commenting on the couple’s relationship. The New Yorker stated, “If Amanda and Ciara came up to me and said, ‘Hey, we think you give Craig nothing,’ I’d probably think about it and evaluate it.” But Paige pointed out that she had to think about whether Danielle had ever really made an effort with her beau, asking, “Wait, have you met Craig? Genuinely, in my head, I was like, ‘I don’t know if you’ve ever hung out with Craig more than twice. So I’m like, I don’t even know how you would know that.”

I think most viewers were asking themselves the same question. It would be better if Danielle just stayed in her lane and watched from the outside.
