Why Tamar Braxton Rejected Role on Real Housewives of Atlanta

Tamar Braxton is a reality TV icon. She rose to fame during her family’s reality show, Braxton Family Values, as the bold, loud-mouth, say-it-like-it-is sister who always found herself in trouble. (Even if it wasn’t her fault.) The Grammy-nominated singer also appeared in other shows, including Celebrity Big Brother and Peacock’s Queen’s Court.

During her time on Carlos King’s podcast, Reality With The King, she said she almost joined the Real Housewives of Atlanta but turned it down. Keep reading to find out why.

Tamar Braxton doesn’t see the fun in joining The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast

As you know, Carlos used to be the executive producer of RHOA’s best years. When the two sat down to chat, Tamar said she was asked to hold a peach but declined the offer. According to her, there’s “just no way I’m going to sit and get a wig put on and get my face beat to argue with a bunch of bitches about nothing.”

Additionally, she shared, “I can’t do it. What does that do for me in my life? What’s the argument?”

In case you haven’t been keeping up with Tay Tay lately, she’s been on her spiritual healing journey. “Let me tell you something, all money ain’t good money. It’s just not,” she said.

“What’s for me won’t miss me. It’s not worth my mental [health] to sit up here and get into an argument with another Black beautiful woman about nothing so other people can think this is what we’re about. At some point, you have to have responsibility [for] what you put on the TV screen.”

The Braxton legend continued, saying she wants to make “feel good, funny, relatable, epic” television … which she’s known for.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta is currently filming their 16th season and should premiere on Bravo sometime next year.

In the meantime, stream previous seasons of RHOA on Peacock.
