Is Rachel Leviss looking to get baptized? Well, not exactly. But the former Vanderpump Rules star did have a brush with the Mormon Church, or, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as it’s officially known.
The overlap between the sect and reality TV is surprisingly large. Lala Kent notably grew up in Utah, surrounded by the church’s influence. And, of course, Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is somewhat inextricable from the religion by taking place at its perceived hub.
So, what was Rachel’s link to the religion? Hear it from the former star herself.
Rachel’s revelations during her rehab
On the most recent episode of her podcast, Rachel got candid about her feelings toward spirituality. “One of the things that I discovered very early on once I checked myself into The Meadows [rehab facility] was this spirituality component that they were bringing into the therapy model.”
Before her rehab journey began, Rachel admitted that she “didn’t have a relationship with my higher power.” Instead, she reasoned that she “was putting men in that position of my higher power, and I would look to them for answers.” She further explained, “That is how I got so lost in my codependency. So right off the bat, I was like, okay, spirituality, interesting.”
So, with that realization weighing on her, Rachel sought a gateway to holiness. “Since then, I have been integrating that spirituality into my everyday life, going to church on Sundays,” she explained. She added, “I tried a Mormon church. My friend took me to a Mormon church,” but said nothing more about Mormonism specifically.
While Rachel didn’t opt for Mormonism in the end, she found something that left her content. “I have found a spiritual community out here now, and it just makes a world of a difference because these people are looking to something bigger than themselves.”
