JoJo Siwa on Abby Lee Miller Being Replaced in Dance Moms Reboot: ‘Sick to My Stomach’

There’s a pit in JoJo Siwa’s stomach, and it’s not because she read the reviews for her new EP. She just found out about the Dance Moms reboot, and apparently, she’s devasted that Abby Lee Miller is getting replaced.

In case you missed it, Hulu is gearing up to launch Dance Moms: A Era, featuring an all-new coach, new moms, and a new generation of ambitious young dancers. JoJo has mixed feelings about the whole thing.

Everyone’s not replaceable

JoJo spoke to Us Weekly about the upcoming Dance Moms reboot. From the looks of the trailer, it seems to be the exact premise of the original show. There’s a new generation of girls being traumatized for the sake of reality TV. The moms literally get into a physical altercation in the trailer. It’s nuts.

However, the drama isn’t what’s bothering JoJo. She thinks it’s a good thing that a new batch of kids will get the platform to show off their skills. JoJo’s issue with the reboot is that she feels like Hulu is trying to erase Abby’s legacy.

“It makes me, quite honestly, a little sick to my stomach to see them try to replace Abby,” JoJo said. “Even though Abby says the quote, ‘Everyone’s replaceable,’ Abby Lee is not replaceable. The only person that is not replaceable is the inventor of that quote.”

Although most of the former Dance Moms girls have expressed their disdain for their experiences with Abby, JoJo has been vocal about her appreciation for her former coach. That’s why it’s so difficult to see someone take her spot.

“It’s tough when you see someone trying to be somebody that you really love and care about. And I really love and care about Abby and [her assistant] Gia,” JoJo said.

JoJo said that she’s hopeful that Glo will bring her spin to the show without trying to borrow Abby’s style. If Glo kicks off an episode ranking the girls through a pyramid system, that would be a huge no-no for JoJo.

“I think the show will have a lot more success if they tried to be more original versus trying to copy Abby. ‘Cause you can’t,” JoJo cautioned.

Dance Moms: A New Era premieres on Hulu on August 7.
