It can’t be easy being a new member of the Real Housewives. Katie Ginella is rolling through her first season on Real Housewives of Orange County. Not without casualties though, despite being warned by Gina Kirschenheiter.
On last week’s episode, the former golf reporter took on an ill-advised battle against Heather Dubrow. Katie claimed to have proof that Heather staged pics at Disneyworld with her husband, Terry Dubrow, by calling the paparazzi. Meanwhile, the RHOC veteran swore on her children that she never did.
It may or may not matter who is telling the truth on the matter. Rather Katie went against Gina’s advice and dished on the matter to the group.
Gina is having a hard time following Katie’s decisions “in this environment”
Now, Gina is speaking to Decider about where she thinks it went wrong for Katie and what she thinks of the mother-of-four outside of the parameters of reality TV.
“It’s hard – your first year is hard. And I think she kind of- there were times when she was having a hard time navigating through all of it, which I think is really normal,” Gina shared.
The budding RHOC realtor called Katie, “really sweet, kind” and also, “pretty open.”
Heather may not agree. As the confrontation progressed during the RHOC episode, Katie accused the Married With Children actress of being brusque at Sutton Stracke’s Christmas Party.
Perhaps not the best tactic for RHOC longevity. Indeed, Gina wasn’t quite sure what to make of the decision to engage with Heather on the matter. However, she is looking forward to potentially filming with Katie next season with a more confident aura.
“I don’t quite have a 100% read on her within this environment,” she stated.
“I’m looking forward to being able to do this again with her next year, should that happen, because I think that she’ll get more comfortable,” she added. “But Katie as a person is great!”
“I do think that it is cool to have somebody too that we’re the same age, so it’s kind of fun because me and Katie joke with each other differently than how I joke with all of the other women except for obviously, Emily [Simpson], but she’s just in a different bucket, always,” Gina concluded of her hopes of filming with a cast member her age.
