When it comes to reality TV stars’ side hustles, no one crushes it quite like Katie Maloney and Ariana Madix. The two worked together on a little sandwich shop, Something About Her.
From the restaurant’s very conception, the hype was palpable. Before the store even opened, merch sales were through the roof. And since it took so long to truly open SAH to the public, many suspected it was all just a front to sell merch. Nevertheless, Something About Her did open its doors, and all was made right.
But not permanently. Soon, Chef Penny Davidi would sue Katie and Ariana over her rightful place in the restaurant. But the Vanderpump Rules stars weren’t going to take the lawsuit lying down.
Did Chef Penny contribute to Something About Her’s success?
On August 8, The U.S. Sun shared news of Ariana and Katie’s counter-filing against Chef Penny’s lawsuit. The court documents denied that Penny was ever a partner in Something About Her. Moreover, they insinuated that the restaurant succeeded despite Penny’s efforts and not because of them. The docs pointed out the stars’ massive Instagram following.
Moreover, SAH’s lawyers provided an exact figure to show how successful merchandising truly was. “Since March 2023, products bearing and sold under the Something About Her mark have generated sales in excess of $1.8 million.” What’s more, the website “continues to sell merchandise” to a portion of its 150,000 visitors per month.
But the restaurant’s success without Penny was only a portion of the document’s content. Penny’s attorney responded to the Sun’s request for comment. They wrote, “The only statement I would make on Penny’s behalf is that she respectfully disagrees with the opposition that was filed and intends to fully address these matters in the appropriate legal proceedings.”
Vanderpump Rules is streaming on Peacock.
