Vice-Presidential Debate Clashes With RHONY Season 15 Premiere

The Real Housewives of New York Season 15 trailer debuted on August 13, leaving fans thirsty for more. The surprise preview promised fun, excitement, relationships, and, naturally, high drama. Unfortunately, as excited as fans may be, circumstances may dictate an even longer wait.

In general, Bravo fans prefer that politics and Housewives stay separate. Reality TV offers a certain level of escape from the sociopolitical issues that easily bring us down. But sometimes, there will be an inevitable overlap. In a way, this is one of those times.

In this case, Bravo hasn’t overlapped with any particular political issue. Instead, the network finds itself facing the political arena at large. And RHONY’s Season 15 premiere may be in a precarious position.

Will Bravo change the RHONY Season 15 premiere date?

As fans saw in the RHONY Season 15 trailer, the newest season is slated for October 1. However, the vice presidential debate might put a wrinkle in that announced date. On October 1, Republican JD Vance is scheduled to go head-to-head with Democrat Tim Walz. Technically, the debate and RHONY could air concurrently since the former will air on CBS.

Of course, it’s a ratings game. Bravo would theoretically have to bank on its current audience’s loyalty to stick with RHONY and not flip over to the debate. Twitter user @thebravoguru pointed out that Bravo changed the Real Housewives of Orange County Season 15 premiere, also in the face of a debate.

However, things are a bit different these days thanks to Peacock. During Season 14, The Real Housewives of New York secured a large portion of its viewers from the streaming service. Whether a streaming view is more valuable than a view on the air may dictate whether NBCU changes New York’s premiere date. Only time will tell.

The Real Housewives of New York is scheduled to hit Bravo on October 1.
