In May, Bravo announced that businesswoman and marketing expert Bozoma Saint John was joining the cast of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 14.
Some of her co-workers in the business world expressed surprise by the move from Netflix to a reality TV show, but Bozoma is accustomed to getting attention wherever she goes.
Moments of connection
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, “Badass Boz” explained her feelings about those reactions since moving from the Board Room to RHOBH.
“Everybody was like, ‘What the F are you doing?!'” she laughed. “But y’all act like you behave differently in the boardroom than these women behave on TV.”
“The point is that we have all these human interactions and communications with moments of connection,” she added. “There will be moments of conflict, and there will be moments of reconciliation … I’m looking at it as a way of understanding a new group of people that I haven’t interacted with before … I’m looking at it as a way to explore, communicate, and [get] to know people.”
When asked if she is hesitant about putting her life on display, Bozoma admitted that people have always questioned every move she’s ever made.
“Of course, in hindsight, people will say, ‘Yes, I knew she should have left Apple to go to Uber [or Endeavor or Netflix].’ But in those moments, people frowned upon the moves I was making until I made those moves my own. That is the point of what I’m doing now. This is really my move, and this is what works for me right now.”
Every opportunity is learning
What if Housewives turns out to be not her cup of tea? Could she return to the boardroom and be taken seriously again should she decide to go back?
“Yes, yes, yes,” she insisted. “Look, I don’t know what the future holds five years from today. I’ve actually never done that and approached my career in that way … I’m living in the moment and focused on what is relevant to me right now. Wherever the future is going to take me next, I will be open to it. The truth is none of us know. We’ll see if I go back to the boardroom.”
What she’s really interested in is growth and the opportunities to learn. “Every job I have had has taught me something new,” the single mom reflected. “I’ve been able to build on that foundation with every new role … The relationships I’ve made along the way in pop culture are helping me in this space. I don’t know what the next role is going to be or what I’m going to do next, but I’m hopeful that what I’m doing now is going to expand me and open up those doors too.”
