TW: This article contains discussions of alleged domestic violence in which a child was present.
During Season 29 of Dancing with the Stars, pro-Artem Chigvintsev was paired with Bachelorette star Kaitlyn Bristowe. The duo won the Mirrorball trophy. That was Artem’s only win as a dancer on DWTS. And while Kaitlyn and Artem didn’t remain friends after the competition ended, she is still concerned about recent events concerning him.
Kaitlyn Bristowe previously slammed Artem Chigvintsev
When former Bachelorette star Charity Lawson joined Season 32 of DWTS, Kaitlyn shared some advice about dealing with her dancing partner. Who just happened to be named Artem. “Well, they’re all d*cks. They’re all d*cks, I’m telling you,” Kaitlyn told Charity. Still, Artem and Charity claimed fourth place during last season.
Kaitlyn Bristowe is concerned about Artem Chigvintsev, his wife Nikki Garcia, and their son
Fast forward to today. Artem was recently arrested and charged with corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant. The victim’s name is being kept confidential, but Artem’s wife, Nikki Garcia, has requested privacy. Artem called 911, and the dispatcher shared the details with the police. “Initially came in as requesting medical, but now he is stating he got into an argument with his wife and his wife threw shoes at rp [reporting party],” the dispatcher stated.
Kaitlyn addressed the disturbing story during a Q & A session on her Instagram Stories. Naturally, one follower asked Kaitlyn how she felt about Artem’s arrest. “My thought on this is that I am not going to say anything until they are ready to say something. They have asked for privacy and when people ask for privacy, I find media outlets and everybody has an opinion,” she explained. “My only thought is that domestic violence is so unacceptable and so scary and so sad. And I hope everybody’s okay. My heart goes out to little Matteo,” Kaitlyn added, referencing Nikki and Artem’s son.
“I’m just praying for all of them to either get better or to find peace and space and help,” Kaitlyn stated, “and I just find this really tough to talk about ’cause it makes me very sad.” But isn’t that kind of giving an opinion? Asking for a friend.
Season 33 of Dancing With the Stars premieres September 17 at 8/7c on ABC and Disney+.
