The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives gives viewers a peek into the world of Mormon moms who are influencers. There was a “soft swinging” sex scandal, some TMI sex confessions, and drama between the women of #MomTok. And there was also drama between some of the ladies and their significant others. It is a lot, and I am hooked. One of the standout stars of Season 1 is Demi Engemann. She is married to Bret Engemann, and now some shocking information about how they met has come to light.
Demi Engemann first saw her husband when she was a child
In a TikTok, Demi revealed the jaw-dropping way that she knew of Bret. “There has been a lot of controversy around our relationship, and the fact that we got into a relationship very quickly after my divorce and that we have pretty significant age gaps,” Demi explained. “And that he’d been married a couple of times before me. So, if you don’t know, my husband and I are 16 years apart and I knew him through a family friend growing up.” She added, “He was so much older than me. When I was 9 years old, he was married to his first wife and having babies.”
Although Demi doesn’t recall ever meeting Bret at the friend’s house, she knew about him. “Needless to say, I was very aware of his existence. I just thought he was so cute, like an innocent little girl crush,” Demi said.
So, the influencer was thrilled when, at the age of 18, Bret followed her on Instagram. She was dating her now ex-husband, but they were “on a break.” Of course, Demi was “star-struck” because Bret was the “star of their hometown” in Utah.

Demi continued the story in another riveting TikTok. Bret divorced his first wife and tied the knot again, but this marriage was short-lived. And Demi married Blake and was pregnant with her first child. However, Demi and Blake’s marriage fell apart after she gave birth to her daughter. Later, Bret and Demi reconnected when he shared a modeling job for her daughter.
The two decided to meet, and it was magic! “It was like a movie. Everything made sense and we just had this instant connection, instant chemistry,” she said. They waited over two months to go on their first official date, but Demi was still in the process of divorcing Blake. Not many people knew about the divorce. Unfortunately, photos of the couple’s date night were leaked to the media, and Demi was labeled a cheater.
After all the negative press, Demi ended her relationship with Bret. But, Demi “went crawling back.” After 10 months of dating, Bret proposed. The lovebirds tied the knot in 2021 when Bret was a spry 43 years old and Demi was 27. And I will just add that Demi is the woman with the fruity cereal confession. IYKYK.
