On Sunday, September 15, ABC hosted the 76th Annual Emmy Awards. Hubby and I sat through the whole tedious three hours (minus commercials — we recorded it and started late). The show had its high and low points. But one of my favorite moments was seeing Peacock’s The Traitors win the Emmy for Outstanding Reality Competition Program.
The award marks the first-ever Primetime Emmy win for the streaming platform. In addition, Peacock took home two more Emmys over the weekend at the Creative Arts Ceremonies, which didn’t air on television.
Alan Cumming accepts an Emmy for The Traitors
The Emmy for Outstanding Reality Competition Program is for Season 2 of the hit competition series. The award not only marks the show’s first win in the category but it’s also Peacock’s first-ever Primetime Emmy win.
At the Creative Arts Emmy Awards over the weekend, host Alan Cumming took home the hardware for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program. It’s not surprising. Mr. Cumming is always charming, quick, and funny, not to mention fabulously well-dressed at all times. I could listen to him read the phonebook.
While the first two seasons of the hit show are available to binge on the Peacock platform, Season 3 premieres in early 2025. Peacock recently announced that the popular competition series has already been picked up for Seasons 4 and 5. Good news for Traitors fans!
The competition pits a cast of celebrities against each other in a picturesque castle set in the Scottish Highlands. At the beginning of the season, the host secretly selects two “Traitors” who strategically choose one of the Faithful each night to “murder.” The group earns cash prizes in daily competitions, which accumulate in a winner’s pot. The remaining Faithful must attempt to weed out the traitors in an elimination ceremony each day. At the end of the season, whoever is left wins all the money — unless there’s a Traitor remaining. In that case, the Traitor takes the cash, and the remaining Faithful go home empty-handed.
Season 3 of The Traitors premieres on Peacock sometime between January and March 2025, with 21 new contestants.
The Traitors Season 1 and 2 are available for streaming on Peacock.
