Heather Gay Felt ‘Shamed’ for Using Ozempic To Lose Weight: ‘You Can’t Win’

The numbers on our scales should never determine our places in society. But sadly, we find ourselves here, living on a planet that often applauds beauty over brains. For reality television stars like Heather Gay, images are all the more scrutinized. Therefore, when a common diabetic drug, Ozempic, started bringing about fast weight loss results, a whole trend began. After Heather lost a significant amount of weight on this medication, this Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star felt shamed for her methods, almost like she was damned if she did, damned if she didn’t use this path.

Heather has spent the past several years living in the spotlight. She’s an icon, a legend, and a true star of RHOSLC. But sadly, when the promos for RHOSLC Season 5 aired, viewers took notice of Heather’s newly obtained sleek figure. And many of their comments were the opposite of kind.

In seasons past, Heather also felt criticized for her weight. Therefore, she now feels like she can’t do anything right. In an exclusive interview with E! News, Heather shared that she has felt “shamed for just about everything and anything. I got shamed for being overweight, and I got shamed for being on medication. So, you can’t win.”

As for the haters of her weight loss route, Heather states that she is “still the same,” adding, “I feel the same. I feel like I liked myself then, [and] I like myself now. It’s just [that] Ozempic became available, and it worked for me.”

This new interview is the second time Heather has felt the need to speak on her scale-related standings. Last March, Heather sat down with ABC News, stating that she “felt pressure” to lose weight. She “didn’t want to show up at another party and see all of my friends 20 pounds thinner and just be resentful.” But when she lost weight, Heather found that she “was [finally] being valued by” everyone, and to her, “that felt sad.”

Tune in to help support Heather’s weight loss journey during the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City premiere, airing Wednesday, September 18, at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
