Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor’s divorce will play out during Season 2 of The Valley. But the signs of trouble were there, starting with Jax cheating on Brittany before they were married. Still, Brittany forgave him and they had their her dream Kentucky wedding on Vanderpump Rules. However, there were major waving red flags during the first season of The Valley. And for the sake of their son, Cruz, Brittany called time on their marriage.
Brittany Cartwright said she “broke the cycle” by filing for divorce
Brittany and Jax separated in February of 2024, and Brittany and Cruz moved out to a rental. After she filed for divorce in August 2024, she explained that fans would see exactly what happened in Season 2 of The Valley.
“Even through our separation, I still was holding on [to] hope that we could work things out. I think it’s been very obvious [how] much I loved him and how hard I tried to work on our relationship,” Brittany told People. She continued, “I wanted to make sure I did every single thing I could possibly do to give it a chance and to try for my family, for my son, for my future, but I couldn’t do it anymore. I had to put myself first.” And Brittany’s friends have had her back and supported her decision.
And having cameras rolling on The Valley helped Brittany. “I think I’ll look back on and be like, ‘Thank God the cameras were there because I don’t know if I would’ve been strong enough to go through this without it.’ I’m going to stay strong,” Brittany stated, “and do what’s right. I finally broke the cycle.”
Recently, Jax moved out of their house, and Brittany and Cruz moved back in. “He finally got out of the house after eight months. I still think that he didn’t think that I was going to do it, even to this day,” Brittany said. While she is enjoying flirting, Brittany knows that she needs to heal. Slow down, Brittany!
Brittany did what was best for Cruz
“It would’ve been easier for me to stay in this house from the beginning, stay with him, continue fighting. And at the end of the day, that’s just not good for my son,” Brittany said. “I feel like I did the harder thing and I’m being strong and I’m just going to keep moving forward.”
Of course, Brittany admitted that establishing “a healthy co-parenting relationship” will take a beat. As for Jax? He previously stated that his goal is to be “amicable co-parents” with Brittany. “And even, hopefully, really good friends one day,” he added.
Season 1 of The Valley is streaming on Peacock.
