Sister Wives Star Janelle Brown Threatens Legal Action After Claiming Kody and Robyn Owe Her Money

Like any spouse going through a divorce, Sister Wives star Janelle Brown only wants what she’s entitled to. Amid her messy split with her spiritual husband, Kody Brown, Janelle is talking about her complicated financial situation.

In the September 22 episode of the show, Janelle revealed that all four of his then-wives contributed to the downpayment for Robyn Brown’s million-dollar Flagstaff home. Now that three of those four wives have left him, Janelle, at least, would like her money back.

Even though she contributed cash toward the purchase, Kody wouldn’t let Janelle put her name on the mortgage. “When I put the money into the house, I said, ‘Well, I think it would be fair if all of our names were on the mortgage,’” Janelle told her daughter Madison Brush. “And he’s like, ‘No, no, we need to protect, you know, protect Robyn’s estate. She needs to have it so it’s hers, and so it’s ours.’”

Janelle Brown just wants what’s fair from Kody and Robyn

For her part, Robyn says it would be difficult to “calculate” how much is owed to the other wives. “We were working together for so long, and we didn’t actually stop working together until, you know, just recently,” she said in a confessional. “When Janelle’s bringing up that Kody and I owe her something, it’s like, how do you, how do you calculate? How do you figure that out? It’s so confusing.”

It’s not that confusing, Robyn. You just look up how much Janelle paid for your house and write her a check. Easy peasy.

Janelle thinks they should sell the Coyote Pass property they bought together and split the profits. It’s pretty obvious they’re never going to build homes out there, and no one is ever going to live there. They should just unload it and settle up.

But Kody doesn’t want to talk about it, so Janelle thinks she’ll probably end up taking legal action against her ex. “I’m going to have to lawyer up,” she said. “I think that’s the only way I’m ever going to get any kind of decision out of him.”

Even though Kody implies that he has “other debts” to pay off first, Janelle questions that excuse.

“I’ve watched him,” Janelle continued. “He keeps buying assets that he sits on trailers … I see all the art on their walls; I see all these things, and that’s fine. I have money, and we spend it on things, too.”

Meanwhile, Kody and Robyn put their home on the market on August 29. They’re asking $1.65 million. That should surely give them enough money to pay Janelle what she’s owed. But according to Realtor.com, the property has yet to be sold.

The current season of Sister Wives was apparently filmed in late 2022, so much could have changed since then. We can only wait and see how everything unfolds.

Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10/9c on TLC.
