Reality television already gets a bad rap for not being “real.” The last thing it needs is even more fake drama, which is what Real Housewives of New York newbie Rebecca Minkoff suggested for the new season. Rebecca suggested “fake fighting” with the fellow fashion designer and castmate Jenna Lyons.
And it looks like Jenna shut it down. This isn’t surprising seeing as how Jenna is one of the more quiet cast members of the show and doesn’t typically eschew to the traditional and flashy Housewives mold. She is more quiet, averse to spectacle, and not a “fighting for the sake of it” type.
Plus, thus far there has been nothing but camaraderie between Jenna and Rebecca.
Jenna Lyons says no to fake drama
Of course, it would seem like having two powerhouse female fashion professionals on the show would be inviting the drama and competition. But Rebecca has nothing but good things to say about Jenna and how she helped her get used to the RHONY arena.
“We had a lot of fun together,” Rebecca gushed to DECIDER. “She’s been so supportive. And obviously, you know Racquel (Chevermont) and I were the newbies so Jenna really held my hand through a lot of stuff to just understand how it all works.”
The two women are both part of the fashion industry. Rebecca founded her multimillion-dollar fashion brand over two decades ago while Jenna is the former Executive Creative Director and President of J. Crew.
Jenna joined the RHONY cast last season and became a fan favorite, while Rebecca is set to make her debut this October. And she had some ideas about how the two could use their fashion backgrounds to spice up the show.
“I kept joking with her. I was like, ‘We should do fake fighting over, like, who’s more stylish,’” Rebecca shared. “And she was like, ‘We’re good.’ I was like, ‘But it’d be so funny if we did that!’”
And while Rebecca may have meant well, faking anything is a big no-no in reality TV. And Jenna is probably the last housewife cast member who would ever consent to something like that.
So looks like there won’t be feuding fashionistas in the new season although the trailer certainly promises some drama!
