Anna Delvey Found ‘Crying in the Bathroom’ After DWTS Premiere Backlash

The criticism around Anna Delvey reached her all too strongly on Dancing with the Stars Season 33’s premiere. Her partner, Ezra Sosa, had to speak out about the matter when she was found crying.

For those unaware, Anna was a famous alleged con artist and fraudster who was put on house arrest for her crimes. She managed to get out of house arrest to join DWTS, but her reputation preceded her. Fans weren’t sure what to make of a criminal joining the ballroom – specifically, someone famous for being a criminal.

Anna made the most of it by taking her cast shots with her ankle monitor. Even Ezra sported an ankle monitor in support. Unfortunately, Anna’s attempts to try and own her past didn’t go all that well, and she remained slammed with hate on premiere night. Here’s how her partner described what went down.

On September 23, Ezra took to TikTok to tell his followers all about his first night as a pro. “During that whole day, it was just truly the best day ever. … I felt so much love from literally every single person, including my partner.” Unfortunately for Anna, that didn’t exactly go both ways.

“On my end, I was feeling so much positivity,” Ezra continued. “On my partner’s end, she wasn’t receiving the same. I think the hardest part of my day, after her press line, she was reading the comments and we couldn’t find her. They finally found her in the bathroom. She was crying. I’ve never seen her like that, and it broke my heart.”

He further stated, “As her partner, I wanted to just give her the best experience she possibly could, and knowing that that’s not the case, it really did break my heart.”

Ezra noted Anna’s “controversial” reputation and said he couldn’t “justify” her actions “for her and for anyone.” However, Ezra also noted that the Anna whom he loved in rehearsal wasn’t “the person that everyone sees in the media. No one deserves the amount of hate that she’s getting right now. She deserves a second chance.”

Dancing with the Stars continues Tuesdays at 8/7c on ABC and Disney+.
