Angie Katsanevas shows that if at first you don’t succeed, try again. She famously tried out for Real Housewives of Salt Lake City multiple times before joining as a friend of in Season 3. Now, in her second season as a full-time Real Housewife, Angie K got the center snowflake in the opening credits. And RHOSLC’s Greek goddess absolutely deserves it!

Angie won over viewers last season. Between her giant sunglasses, hilarious antics, inspiring confidence, and sweet home life, it was impossible not to love her. Just look at how Mary Cosby was completely won over! On the flip side, her feud with Meredith Marks also gave us one of the best RHOSLC moments ever.

Perhaps nothing displays her rise better than her renewed friendship with high school classmate Heather Gay. Heather went from calling Angie untrustworthy in Season 4, to saying “Angie’s my girl” in the premiere of Season 5. Suffice it to say, many RHOSLC fans would also call Angie our girl. And it appears producers feel the same. Angie’s earned her spot at the top of the pack, and here’s why.

Only a few episodes into Season 5, Angie’s already the standout. She’s had the most talked about, entertaining, and hilarious moments so far. In the premiere alone, she was in rare form.

Of course, we have to talk about the iconic scroll. True to her delightfully over-the-top personality, Angie chose to confront Meredith in the most hilarious way. Interrupting Meredith and Whitney Rose’s argument to reveal a list of things Meredith should apologize for, Angie instantly made Housewives history. I can’t stop thinking about the list item “suggesting I’m involved in organ crime.” Or the way Lisa Barlow asked, “Why does Angie have a scroll?”

Much like Heather, we were all cracking up at the effort Angie put into her prop. Cut to Mary admitting that Angie probably has too much time on her hands. The editors were also amused, as they gave the scroll its own special music cue.

Scroll aside, Angie continued to be on the top of her game at dinner. Bronwyn Newport did her best to broker peace but burst out laughing when Angie kept poking fun at Meredith’s rental. This feud is the gift that keeps on giving.

One of the reasons it makes sense for Angie to have the center snowflake is that she acts as a bridge to opposing sides in the RHOSLC cast. Real Housewives fans hate when certain cast members won’t film together. It’s the reason why a Monica Garcia return wouldn’t have worked out this year. So, having someone in Angie’s position is crucial for RHOSLC’s success.

If not for Angie, the gang up on Whitney in the premiere would be extra egregious. While it angered Lisa, someone had to let Whitney know to expect a confrontation over the podcast comments. When Angie claimed she had good intentions for telling Whitney, it was easy to believe her.

Additionally, Angie hung out one-on-one with both the feuding newbies, Bronwyn and Britani Bateman. The new girls hitting up Angie to fit in with the group proves she’s officially one of Salt Lake’s core Real Housewives.

Her delightful bond with Mary also helps, making the latter’s return as a full-time Housewife feel more organic. Thanks to her silly friendship with Angie, she feels less ostracized by the others. I have to wonder if Angie is the reason why Mary is being much nicer to Whitney this season. In the preview of the Milwaukee trip, Mary and Whitney even hug! I never thought I’d see the day!

In Palm Springs last year, Heather implied that Angie was an eternal sidekick. This year, however, she’s standing up for herself.

We all love Lisa Barlow, but it was easy to understand Angie’s frustrations (or, as Lisa would say, “fusstrations”). And she didn’t have to do much for Lisa to prove her point by talking over her. Angie successfully stood her ground with Lisa in their lunchtime confrontation, as well as afterward on Watch What Happens Live.

That’s not the only reason Angie has main-character energy this year. Her business is booming, and it was so fun to watch Angie in her element at the salon. Now that she and Shawn are opening a new (and huge!) location, we’re excited to see more.

In a recent interview, Angie reflected on her rise to the coveted center snowflake position. Admitting she cried when she got the news, she said, “It just kind of reminded me that the cream rises to the top and just being your authentic self and having fun can be a good thing.” She added, “I don’t need to be a villain or a bad person to stand in the center and represent Salt Lake City.” She is a pillar of the community!

In addition to her moments on the show, Angie’s social media also gets a lot of attention. For one thing, it shows off her great sense of humor, including about herself. Last season, Angie’s Instagram profile picture was a shot of her Mother Goose look at the Pioneer Day trip. She also made fun of her oversized glasses in a post about the solar eclipse.

Ahead of the Season 5 premiere, Angie feuded with Lisa and Meredith on Twitter. She held her own at the time and was able to brush it off later. Personally, I can’t stop thinking about her comeback, “My lips are as full as my life.”

In addition to her social media, Angie’s Watch What Happens Live appearance was a total hoot. She even gave Andy Cohen his very own scroll. Naturally, Andy’s was much nicer than Meredith’s. In both cases, it shows that Angie commits, both on and off RHOSLC. And we love her for it!

Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is now streaming on Peacock.
