Brynn Whitfield Reacts to Rebecca Minkoff’s Past Ahead of RHONY Season 15 Premiere

When Bravo announced Rebecca Minkoff as a cast member for Real Housewives of New York City, the response from fans seemed mixed. Yes, she’s a big name in the fashion world. But, her ties to the controversial Church of Scientology left some people feeling suspicious. However, her castmate Brynn Whitfield thinks we all need to give Rebecca a chance, even if you’ve already formed an opinion about her background.

Although we haven’t seen Rebecca in action on RHONY, so far, she hasn’t left the best impression on fans. She admitted to trying to fake a fight with Jenna Lyons, which is a huge no-no for any reality show. Plus, accusations against her dad’s “medical” practice left some fans thinking she could be too controversial for the once-beloved show.

Ahead of the RHONY Season 15 premiere, Brynn spoke to E! News about the controversial new cast member. Without hesitation, she came to Rebecca’s defense. She said that fans need to ignore the Scientology connections and give her a chance.

“Everyone has their own belief system and are entitled to it,” Brynn argued. “It was something that was new for our group, and I think people are going to be very interested in that and Rebecca sharing that part of her life.”

According to Brynn, Rebecca’s Scientology beliefs were discussed on camera. With that in mind, she praised Rebecca for being brave enough to put herself, and her religion, on display.

“It’s something that’s private, it’s her philosophy, it’s her beliefs,” Brynn explained. “Look, we all have things, whatever it is—good, bad, faith, trauma, relationships—that’s what this show is about.”

“What people share and the depth that they share is what they feel comfortable with at that moment in time,” Brynn continued. “This it’s really hard to put yourself out there and to share everything. So, she does so at her own pace and her own comfort level.”

The Real Housewives of New York Season 15 premieres on Bravo on October 1 at 9/8c.
