Just like clockwork, America’s sweetheart is back at it. Savannah Chrisley has taken to her podcast to complain about her mom, Julie Chrisley, getting resentenced to seven years in prison.
After Julie won an appeal to have her sentence reevaluated, the Chrisley family felt hopeful that a judge would shave a few years off her prison time. That didn’t happen, and she wound up right back where she started with the same exact punishment. Now, Savannah says this wasn’t justice. It was “retaliation.”
Savannah Chrisley claps back at her mom’s judge
For those of us who have been following the Chrisley case since the beginning, then you know that Savannah’s Unlocked podcast is the official source of all things Chrisley. That’s where Savannah airs out her biggest complaints about her parent’s case and shares the occasional anecdote about bringing a gun into an airport.
In the latest episode, she reacted to her mom’s resentencing just how we expected her to — poorly. Rather than blaming her parents for getting themselves into this sticky situation, she pointed her finger at the judge for doing her job.
“I truly do believe that this judge, everything that she has done has been in retaliation,” Savannah argued. “It has been in retaliation for us exercising our right to an appeal and being granted in part a successful appeal.”
Savannah echoed the sentiment of Julie’s lawyer. They have all convinced themselves that their celebrity status interfered with their pursuit of justice. In Savannah’s mind, she felt like the judge “indirectly” reprimanded her during Julie’s resentencing hearing.
“The judge showed that this was more than just us exercising our right to an appeal,” Savannah argued. “This was her not liking how outspoken I am.”
According to Savannah, the whole hearing felt like a “gut punch” because of the insinuations from the judge. However, she’s not going to stop speaking out about her parent’s case. If anything, this whole situation has emboldened her to speak louder.
Savannah said, “At this point, I have nothing else to lose. My mom’s in there. My dad’s in there. What do I have to lose at this point? I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.”
