Shannon Beador has been a staple in the Real Housewives of Orange County since 2014 when Season 9 aired. The blonde burst onto the scene as the eccentric mom who believed in burying crystals under her multimillion-dollar home. And who always had nine lemons in a bowl. But along the way, the easy-go-lucky Bravo star lost herself thanks to a divorce and a bad breakup. Viewers were hoping to find funny Shannon again but she has yet to reappear. As Season 18 comes to a close, more and more followers are starting to feel like this should be her last season.
Shannon Beador is grasping at straws
I desperately miss Shannon’s nonstop laughter from the early days. While she was never totally calm, Shannon’s quirky way about her felt genuine. Recently, however, as a viewer, it feels as if The Real for Real owner is planning one calculating move after the other. Now, it seems more than ever that Shannon knows she has to perform to keep her popularity up. And keep a hold of her orange. Currently, in Season 18, we have watched her cry more times than we can count. And to be honest, I’m not sure she has a valid story anymore that holds fans’ interest.
Shannon showcased her marriage in Season 9 and beyond, which eventually turned sour. And while that was a horrific time for the mother of three, it was also a gripping tale. At the time, we watched David Beador plan a vow renewal and even say a eulogy to Shannon while in a casket. Now, this was good stuff. Today we are lucky if we get a full sentence out of her in between the tears.
Alexis Bellino and John Janssen have made Shannon Beador’s life hell
Real Housewives of Orange County fans believed that with Alexis Bellino’s reintroduction, there could be some juicy drama. However, the juicy drama lasted only for the premiere episode. Shannon confronted the star formerly known as Jesus Jugs only to be told, “There’s the door, Shannon Beador” (classic). Since then, it has been scheme after scheme to try to make the other party look bad. As a viewer, I didn’t sign up to watch John Janssen dangle a potentially incriminating video over his ex-girlfriend. Something just feels so dirty about it.
As for Shannon, she hasn’t even been able to jump into the parties or cast trips fully because she is worried about her subsequent lawsuit. Sadly, I think Shannon has hit her limit on reality TV, and someone needs to reassure her it is okay to pull the plug. I’d rather watch Shannon die a good metaphorical death than watch a once proud Real Housewives wither away just for the sake of a Bravo paycheck. Shannon, in her prime, was the cream of the crop, but now I just want to see her put out to pasture. Maybe if she is lucky, she can get the call for a Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip. Maybe.
Shannon Beador allegedly has been rude to castmates
If the recent rumors about Shannon being rude to those around her are true, then we really need to evaluate whether she deserves another season. Joel Kim Booster allegedly lashed out at Shannon while on the set of Love Hotel. The comedian claimed Shannon exhibited some extremely bad behavior. Joel called Shannon a “pathetic drunk” and accused her of treating people “like they were subhuman.” Now, everyone has a bad day but personally, I don’t want a Real Housewives star to keep getting a paycheck if she is rude to those around her. Sometimes I think many of them forget that the fans are the ones who made them famous. I mean no logical thinking adult is going to book a Dos Amigas ticket if they didn’t love the two hosts.
Shannon has naturally come to the end of her road. It also didn’t help that she found herself behind the wheel, drunk, resulting in her DUI. While I can’t argue that Shannon has delivered the main story for multiple seasons since joining and is one of the only Real Housewives that lets cameras film her reality and not some made-up world, I think the jig is up. Even though Shannon might need the stack of paychecks to help with college and her lawsuits, I’d rather see her figure herself out than continue to degrade herself on the series. You have to trust me. It’s the right choice.
