It’s the end of an era. Kamie Crawford just announced that she’s leaving MTV’s Catfish after six years. The news came just weeks after fans suspected a feud between her and the Catfish OG, Nev Schulman. Surely, that’s just a coincidence, right?
Kamie Crawford’s farewell message
Catfish aired its ninth season earlier this year, but Kamie’s journey started in 2018 when Max Joseph, the original co-host, stepped away to pursue other endeavors. Kamie joined as a guest host, along with a slew of other celebs.
In 2020, MTV hired her as the full-time co-host, but now, it’s all coming to an end. Kamie confirmed her departure in a social media post reflecting on her journey with MTV. She didn’t share any specifics about her exit. Instead, she just focused on the positives of the experience.
“When I got an email in 2018 from an absolute stranger at Catfish’s production department asking if I wanted to guest co-host two episodes of one of my favorite shows of all time, I never would’ve imagined the life, love, memories, and worldwide support that it would’ve awarded me,” Kamie wrote.
Meanwhile, eagle-eyed Catfish fans noticed earlier this year that Nev unfollowed Kamie on Instagram. At the time, she was still following him, but folks still assumed that something had gone down behind the scenes. Kamie randomly leaving the show just adds fuel to that fire.
Despite the theories of a Catfish beef, Kamie had nothing negative to say in her farewell message to fans. There wasn’t an ounce of shade in her message, and we tried to find it. Instead, there was nothing but gratitude from Kamie. You have to respect it, even if there is more to the story.
“I have so many new dreams now and although I’m writing this with tears in my eyes (y’all know I’m a water sign at the end of the day), I am excited for what’s to come and I’m even more honored that I get to take you all with me ?,” Kamie wrote.
