Jax Taylor Compares Divorce to ‘Death’ Amid Brittany Cartwright Split

Jax Taylor’s current circumstances have put him through the wringer. But his ongoing divorce from Brittany Cartwright isn’t the only difficulty he wants to overcome.

Indeed, the divorce caught fans of The Valley by surprise. Despite all the issues between the couple on camera, no one was sure that Brittany would pull the trigger. Thank goodness she took the leap.

Even before the divorce, Jax was going through it. In late July, he checked into rehab in the face of mental health struggles. In truth, that was the right thing to do. So, months on, how does Jax feel?

Jax Taylor shares he’s taking things “day by day” amid divorce

In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Jax opened up about his divorce. He commented on the difficulty in experiencing a divorce filing so close to a mental health crisis. “My mental health took a beating,” he said. “Divorce is like death.” Still, Jax had no regrets about how he chose to deal with his difficulties. He detailed how he “needed” rehab.

“I was just kind of spiraling, to be honest,” he said. “[Rehab] was an amazing thing. I’m so glad I did it. I got a lot of help that I needed. I got a lot of tools that I needed, [and] came out feeling so much better. I feel good … Like I said, it’s day by day. There’s good days and there’s bad days.”

On top of the mental health battle and the divorce filing, there’s The Valley. Jax filmed Season 2 amid all of his personal difficulties. Regarding filming, he said, “In the 12 years I’ve been on TV, this was by far the hardest [season] I’ve ever filmed, just because of everything that’s going on. My mental health and my divorce being so public – it’s tough, you know?”

Through it all, Jax kept his son at the forefront of his mind. He emphasized “being healthy and being in the right frame of mind,” all for his son’s sake. Brittany made similar comments to the outlet about putting their son above all else. As for Jax in this stage of his life, he shared, “I’m just kind of trying to figure it all out day by day.”

The Valley is streaming on Peacock.
