The perceived goodwill between Gizelle Bryant and Karen Huger wasn’t going to last. Real Housewives of Potomac viewers could expect a breakdown of relations sooner or later. With two episodes into the season, it seems that the issue of coinciding events may cause strife in the group.
Ashley Darby and Gizelle were hosting a party for their GnA athleisure brand, also meant to honor Gizelle’s late father and raise funds for the National Brain Tumor Society. At the same time, Karen organized a Femme Powered event. Wendy Osefo, Mia Thornton, Keiarna Stewart, Stacey Rusch, and Jassi Rideaux tried to attend both events and called Ashley from the car to discuss the issue.
When Ashley relayed the information to Gizelle, the RHOP OG was not happy. And even suggested she would rather the ladies not show up at all than be late.
D.C. traffic wasn’t going to make event-hopping easy
“We just wanted you to know that you can expect your girls to be there to support you,” Jassi said over the video call.
The GnA party was to end at 9 p.m. and the group planned to arrive between 8 and 8:30. Ashley told them to arrive by 8.
“That’s what I said, you guys, we cannot get there at 8:30,” Stacey said.
“Don’t worry, whatever it takes, we’ll be there,” Jassi added.
Once the call ended, the ladies in the van had to come up with an alternate strategy. They were already on their way to Karen’s event. Factoring in D.C. traffic, the supposed 24 minutes between the venues was not realistic.
“We really should be cognizant of the time, I think it’s quite rude,” Stacey said.
“So you guys, we have 30 minutes to go in and be out,” she suggested.
Wendy thought more time was needed for the commute, which would leave “not even 30 minutes” for Karen’s event.
“Have you ever seen DC traffic? Just go ahead and text them and send your regrets. Because it’s not going to work,” she explained.
Gizelle felt the group “need to not come” if they were going to be so late
It was then Wendy offered to split from the group as her “primary focus is Karen.” The Grande Dame was to get an award that night, and Wendy wanted to be there to see it.
Meanwhile, Ashley informed Gizelle of the conversation. Needless to say, the latter was not pleased.
“They need to not come,” Gizelle said “That’s so rude, Ashley. They’re f-cking rude. Not rude. F-cking rude.”
The episode ended with her confronting the ladies as they entered her event. A sneak peek for episode three shows security escorting the group out.
