I have to be honest; it would be pretty sweet to live a life like the Real Housewives of Orange County stars. I mean, aside from the rampant divorce rate, the ladies live a life of luxury that most can only dream of. Whether they are charting a private jet, jetting off to the Bahamas, or buying the latest Gucci fashion, life just doesn’t look that hard. But inevitably, there is always that one housewife who spends beyond their means, and many feel that Shannon Beador is that person.
Shannon Beador grew up with a silver spoon
We always knew that Shannon didn’t marry David Beador for social clout. The blonde grew up quite wealthy, as she wanted for nothing. Shannon’s family had their own elite status in the community, as she had mentioned before on the Real Housewives of Orange County. In an old post on X, Shannon opened up about her maternal grandfather, Robert Shannon. She shared that he was the president of I. Magnin & Company, which was a popular department store and was later bought by Macy’s in 1988.
Shannon was named after her grandfather and was raised in the affluent community of Rancho Santa Fe, which is considered one of the most expensive zip codes in the United States. David used to take issue with her upbringing and, in one episode, called her out for being spoiled. Shannon noted, “I did grow up privileged. I appreciate it. I’m grateful for it, but I did work.” But could Shannon’s rich upbringing be dragging her down today? Even though she received $1.4 million from her divorce, many feel she is living beyond her means.

This last episode showed Shannon claiming that she spent “thousands” on her ex-boyfriend, John Janssen. In fact, Shannon had the receipts, and I use that term loosely to prove it. Nine Lemons Beador whipped out old scraps of paper as she shared an example. The mother of three alleged that she paid for a family vacation to celebrate John’s oldest daughter’s birthday. The blended family went to Los Angeles, where Shannon spent almost $10,000 on “four rooms at the London Hotel.” Um, excuse me, has Shannon not heard of the Marriott? However, Shannon showed her true need to spend time in the most recent episode, as she revealed to Heather Dubrow and Emily Simpson how deep her pocketbook had gone.
Even though Shannon’s papers didn’t look very organized, she shared, “From the first six months of our relationship, this is the total.” Real Housewives of Orange County fans learned that she spent $13,000 on airfare. She also spent $680 on “every family dinner we went to.” Shannon revealed she spent $60,891.40 on John in total. I mean, this could be a red flag regarding Shannon’s spending issues.
Shannon Beador’s splashy London trip
After she arrived in London, I felt like Shannon was like Oprah. “You get a Burberry scarf! And you get a Burberry scarf.” She showered her friends with presents before the trip even started. At her tea party in the OC, she gifted the ladies some fine tea and tin gift boxes. Upon their arrival at the London hotel, she adorned each of them with a $535 Burberry scarf. I can only assume she went for the wool blend, not the cashmere. The gesture was very kind, but could Shannon really afford it all, especially with a lawsuit on her hands? Tamra Judge doesn’t think so.
And in fact, she believes her former friend is spending way beyond her capable means. Tammy Sue told Katie Ginella, “She’s always struggling to pay her bills. Shannon’s superpower is making people feel sorry for her. Tamra then went to her Bravo confessional to elaborate, sharing, “Shannon lives way beyond her means. She throws money around as if she’s a multimillionaire, and she’s not. That, to me, is scary. All I’m thinking about is my retirement, that’s it. I just put all my money in the bank.” Shannon might be a little careless with money, but it must be hard for a woman who had it all, including crystals in her mansion’s foundation, to go from that to humble means.
