Patricia Altschul shared a touching tribute to her dear friend and former butler, Michael Kelcourse in the wake of his passing yesterday. The Southern Charm star has been a massive support to Michael since a spinal stroke paralyzed him in February 2021. A recent, subsequent stroke weakened him further.
Ever the advocate, the Southern Charm matriarch kept fans updated on his status. And often visited Michael at his care facility in Sarasota, Florida. As Southern Charm stars, the duo offered a glimpse into a bygone era. One of strict social protocols and the perfectly made martini.
Patricia Altschul recalled Michael Kelcourse’s “humor and kindness”
Patricia shared a tribute to her Instagram “In Loving Memory of Michael Kelcourse.” She shared a picture of her former butler as he was in his heyday, ready to serve a martini and the ever-present smile on his face.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Michael, who left us yesterday morning in Sarasota. More than just a devoted butler, he was a trusted friend, confidant, and member of our family for over 20 years,” she wrote.
Patricia continued, “Michael’s time on Southern Charm endeared him to many, as his humor and kindness quickly made him a fan favorite. Over the past two weeks, he was deeply touched by the incredible number of cards and well-wishes from fans. I’ve been told there were hundreds, and they brought him immense joy during his final days.”
Indeed, Southern Charm fans responded to Patricia’s request for cards and well-wishes in the days after his recent stroke. It’s nice to know that he got that tremendous support in his final days.
“I will be devoting this week to remembering Michael. I know he meant so much to so many of you, as he did to us. He will be greatly missed,” Patricia concluded.
