There’s no fiercer advocate for Vanderpump Rules than Scheana Shay. While we all ponder the future of the show, she has made it clear that she, really, really wants the show to continue. More importantly, she wants to be a part of it.
Of course, Scheana has a lovely daughter and husband to provide for, but that’s not the only reason she wants the show to continue. According to Scheana, she wants the show to keep going because they “owe it” to us, the fans. Who knew that Scheana could be so selfless?
Do we deserve Season 12 of Vanderpump Rules?
After the Pump Rules Season 11 finale, the future of the show seemed very unclear. It felt more like a series finale, and when they reconvened for the reunion, it didn’t get any better.
The series has been on hiatus ever since, and rumors have been floating around that certain cast members are negotiating for higher paychecks. There’s also that elephant in the room called Tom Sandoval. We know he and Ariana Madix aren’t going to coexist on the show. Regardless of all of the logistical complications of Season 12, Scheana argued that it makes sense to keep the show going for the sake of the audience.
“I don’t feel like our story ended in San Francisco last year and at that reunion. I think there is so much more story to tell,” Scheana said during a recent episode of her Scheananigans podcast.
While some of Scheana’s castmates believe that there’s “no more story left to tell,” Scheana seems to believe that they can create a new story. Even if it’s not the exact format as before, she thinks the franchise deserves to live on. She doesn’t want the show to get locked away in the Bravo vault just yet.
She explained, “We owe it to the audience who has followed us for the past 11 seasons to just continue sharing our story, you know? Whether that is onto a new chapter or the final one, I think we’ve at least got one more, but I don’t know anything for sure. That’s just how I feel.”
Scheana’s hypothetical Season 12
If Pump Rules does return with the same cast, Scheana said she would like to see some of the broken friendships get rebuilt. It’s an optimistic thought, considering how Lala Kent just said she doesn’t want to reconcile with Ariana. Either way, Scheana thinks that there could be sunshine and rainbows on the other side of this mess.
“I definitely always work towards a positive path with others, Scheana claimed. “And I feel like through therapy and the work I’ve been doing on myself, I also realize that rebuilding, you know, quote-unquote, it doesn’t mean that we’re building a bridge to our past relationship.”
She continued, “And, you know, like when we were all in a good place, I think that we all change, we all evolve. Life, friendships, ebb and flows, and I don’t know. Sometimes we just need to meet each other where we are. And rebuilding to a new place where that dynamic might look different than it did before.”
Whatever happens next, Scheana clearly wants to be there. She told her listeners to “stay tuned” as we wait for Bravo to reveal the fate of VPR. Until we hear it from the network, everything else is hearsay.
“You guys will probably find out before I find out. We’ll see,” Scheana joked.
Vanderpump Rules is available to stream on Peacock.
