Real Housewives of New York viewers were shocked by a recent prank that was meant to weed out the gossipers in the group. Erin Lichy and Rebecca Minkoff hatched the plan. They told their co-stars that the latter was newly pregnant and unsure of who the father was.
The supposedly cunning scheme fell flat with viewers. Some of their co-stars were none too pleased as well. And now, the real estate professional is explaining herself and why she chose to take part.
Erin Lichy wanted to “carry it out” to pinpoint the RHONY gossips
Erin called the plan “crazy” but participated anyway. She and Rebecca claimed to be on a mission to figure out who in the group would gossip about such a thing.
“I thought it was kind of a crazy idea to make that rumor about yourself,” Erin told People at the Bravo Fan Fest in Miami over the weekend. “But I was down to carry it out because I wanted to see who the pigeons really were.”
Erin and Rebecca came up with the idea of labeling the gossiping parties “leaky pigeons.” And while the initial conclusion was that Brynn Whitfield was the main gossip, it turns out that she was briefed on the joke. The other ladies were upset that Erin kept quiet about Brynn’s involvement.
“I think the reason she told you is a prank because she wants you to do it and then go around to everybody else to be like, ‘Look! Look! Who’s the leaky pigeon?'” Ubah Hassan said to Brynn in the episode. “Because if she didn’t tell you it was a prank, you would not have said it.”
Meanwhile, Sai De Silva had a different take on the whole thing. She felt empathy for Ubah, Brynn, and Jessel Taank at the moment. All three ladies are hoping to conceive soon.
“I mean, there are three women who want to be pregnant,” she told producers. “I think maybe Rebecca and Erin need to possibly check their baby privilege at the door.”
Being pregnant is “so familiar” for Erin
It now turns out that Erin is pregnant in real time with husband Abe Lichy’s child. The little one will join siblings Levi, 9, Layla, 7, and Elijah, 4.
“They were begging me to get pregnant, begging! ‘Please, we really want another baby,’ ” Erin shared in Miami. “‘You do? That means less toys, less attention, what’s wrong with you?’ They wanted it.”
“Well, it’s harder because I’m just more exhausted by everybody,” she continued. “But, it’s so familiar at this point that it’s pretty easy.”
